***Priority given to applications submitted by July 30th, but open until filled.***
DexMat makes Galvorn, a next-generation advanced carbon material that delivers what no incumbent material can: conductivity, strength, lightweighting, and flexibility in a single, industrially scalable form factor. Our production at scale is higher-performing, less energy-intensive, and less expensive than today’s most pervasive metals.
Since founding we’ve increased production capacity by 3000x while bringing costs down 99.6%. In 2025 we more than doubled the amount of Galvorn produced and sold—and were named Startup of the Year at Trellis Impact, a global climate tech competition spanning 109 companies across 13 countries.
We're shipping from Houston today to customers in aerospace, defense, wire and cable, and data center infrastructure. Our first Joint Development Agreement with a Tier 1 global wire and cable manufacturer is signed. The next phase is building the commercial pipeline that gets us to offtake. This hire is central to achieving that.
We are building a company on track to reach kiloton commercial scale within 5 years— and in doing so, rewrite how industry thinks about materials, performance, and environmental impact. If that's the kind of thing you want to have been part of building, this is the moment to join.
THE ROLEOwn the pipeline. Build the relationships. Drive demand.
As Technical Sales Engineer, you will own the end-user pipeline end-to-end, from first contact through pilot supply agreement. The current focus is aerospace and defense: defense technology companies, advanced aviation, autonomous systems, and adjacent markets. You will be the primary commercial relationship on every account you own. This is not a support function behind a senior AE.
You will be joining a team member who has been with DexMat for five years and carries deep product and customer context. That institutional knowledge is a genuine asset as you get up to speed, while your commercial experience is exactly what the team needs to hit its goals.
The two complement each other.
Your accounts (end-users of wire and cable in aerospace & defense) are demand signals and also feed the broader commercial strategy: when you develop an account with a specific requirement for Galvorn-based products, that strengthens our manufacturer partnerships.
Our strategy is directional, not fixed. We’re always learning, and the commercial motion may evolve. You will be part of building this growth-stage company; there is no inherited territory and no fully defined playbook. Some people need more structure than that. This isn't the role for them. If you see it as an opportunity, keep reading.
WHAT YOU’LL DOFull ownership, front to back.
- Own target accounts from cold outreach through signed pilot supply agreement
- Prospect and qualify accounts across defense, aerospace, advanced aviation, and adjacent markets, adapting as needed as the strategy evolves
- Credibly lead technical conversations with product engineers, VPs of R&D, VPs of Engineering, and the like, to facilitate deal progression and customer development
- Manage the sample request process: understand application requirements, set feedback checkpoints, convert active testers into qualified pipeline
- Run inbound lead qualification and route accounts appropriately
- Track all account activity and pipeline status in our CRM and project management platforms
- Work closely with members of the executive team and collaborate daily with your commercial team member
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORTechnically sharp. Commercially proven. Self-directed.
- 3–7 years in technical sales or business development in wire and cable, advanced materials, aerospace, defense, or adjacent industrial markets
- Background in wire and cable or specialty materials is strongly preferred; A&D experience is a plus, not a requirement
- BS in engineering, materials science, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent technical experience considered.
- Technically fluent: able to hold a credible conversation with engineering and R&D leaders and stakeholders without backup
- Demonstrated ability to open and close accounts independently, from cold outreach through signed agreement
- Resourceful and self-directed; comfortable with ambiguity and an evolving strategy; brings insights from the field back to the team to help shape it
- Existing relationships in wire and cable, A&D, or advanced aviation markets are a meaningful advantage, not a requirement
CLARITYWhat this role is not.
- A support role behind a senior account executive
- A role with a warm territory, inherited accounts, or a fully defined sales process
- A fit for someone who needs institutional structure to operate effectively
COMPENSATIONCompetitive cash. Real equity.
Base Salary: $100,000–$120,000
OTE: $115,000–$144,00
Variable compensation is a 20% team performance bonus, paid when DexMat hits its annual goals. We're a small, tightly integrated team. Everyone's work contributes to the same outcomes, and the bonus reflects that. The commercial milestones this role drives—NDAs, paid sample orders, pilot supply agreements—are among the most critical factors in whether we hit them.
Equity: Stock Options (4-year vest, 1-year cliff)
Benefits: Health insurance, 401(k) with 4% match, unlimited PTO, flexible/remote work, professional development budget.
LOCATION & REPORTINGFlexible with Availability to Travel
Most of this role is on calls with customers or on site with them. Location matters less than the experience and skills you bring. Our headquarters and production facility are in Houston, so some Houston travel will be required for remote candidates.
This role reports to DexMat’s commercial lead, who owns both marketing and go-to-market strategy. At DexMat, those functions are unified. It’s not conventional, but it’s right for where we are.
