Job Summary


The Sustainability Coordinator drives the execution of deSter’s ESG PeoplePlanetProduct strategy together with the sr. sustainability manager, embedding goals and KPIs across departments to ensure delivery and accurate reporting. This role inspires teams to advance ESG practices, communicates progress, and publishes the annual deSter Sustainability Report.

Additionally, this role supports the organization on sustainability topics (e.g. Customer request and presentations), provides training, and supports external verification and certifications. The role also liaises with gatesolutions and gategroup on ESG matters.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will help drive deSter’s People–Planet–Product ESG strategy by enabling departments globally to accelerate carbon reduction, circular design, and transparent sustainability reporting. You will collaborate across Product, Sales, Operations, and global sites to embed sustainable practices, influence decisions, and help shape deSter’s public sustainability narrative.


Climate and environmental management

  • GHG reduction strategy and execution
  • Coordination and implementation of actions and improvements on energy-, waste-, chemicals- and pollution management of the related deSter's global production sites and offices.

ESG reporting and data governance

  • Supports departments in achieving external ESG-related verification (e.g. ISO14001, ISO45001, SMETA 4-pillar...)
  • Part of internal auditing team of deSter Hoogstraten (ISO14001, ISO45001...).
  • Contributes to the overall ESG strategy and reporting.
  • Ensures ESG databases and dashboards are in place with support of the Business data team.
  • Ensures data accuracy, consistency, and, where needed, alignment with reporting standards.
  • Defines improvements on ESG related data and projects and executes them, with the help of the sr. sustainability manager

Commercial support

  • Supports customer requests and customer ESG questionnaires (e.g. for customer tenders)
  • Supports Sales, Product Management and Design with GHG topics related to products (e.g. Product Carbon footprint calculations and other tools)

Project Management & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Project management: facilitates meetings with the different ambassadors and keeps track of agreed actions
  • Collaborates, advises and coordinates the internal teams to collect the required ESG metrics and KPIs across departments and locations
  • Supports the senior sustainability manager in daily operations



Core Competencies and Requirements

Education

  • Master degree in Sustainability and Climate change

or

  • Bachelor / Master studies combined with relevant on job experience in sustainability



Work Experience

Must have

  • 2 years working experience in a business environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with internal and external auditing
  • Experience in ESG topics



Technical Skills

Certifcation, licenses and registration.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Data analysis and reporting

Nice to have or willing to learn

  • Knowledge of international frameworks (UN SDGs, EU CSRD, ISSB)
  • Experience with EcoVadis or CDP
