Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Assets and Infrastructure Manager to lead the strategic management and development of a significant portfolio of operational waste assets.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the long-term planning, maintenance and development of infrastructure that underpins essential public services across Derbyshire. You will play a key role in ensuring our waste facilities remain safe, compliant, resilient and fit for future generations, while helping the Council respond to changing legislation, emerging technologies and environmental challenges.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Resources and Waste, you will lead a small specialist team and work closely with senior managers, elected members, consultants, contractors, regulators and government bodies. You will be responsible for developing and delivering long-term asset management programmes, overseeing major capital investment projects, managing former landfill liabilities and providing expert advice to support strategic decision-making.

- Significant experience of asset, infrastructure, engineering, construction, property or environmental management.
- Experience of developing and implementing long-term asset management strategies and maintenance programmes.
- A track record of delivering capital projects and managing significant budgets.
- Strong commercial and contract management skills.
- The ability to interpret complex technical information and turn it into practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of leading and developing high-performing teams.
