Lead DEECA's strategic policy, planning and performance functions to drive whole-of-government alignment and deliver on key priorities for Victoria.

As the Director, Policy, Planning and Performance, you will lead a high-performing, department-wide function that integrates strategic policy with coordinated planning, and performance measurement. Your leadership will shape DEECA's long-term direction, ensuring policies, planning and reporting are evidence-based, outcomes-focused, aligned with government priorities and responsive to emerging challenges and risks. The integrated and collaborative approach supports the position to be one that is driving innovation, responsiveness and performance excellence.

You will provide authoritative advice to the department's executive and government, foster collaboration across DEECA and other portfolios, oversee DEECA's engagement in strategic whole-of-Victorian-Government reforms, as well as driving the development of DEECA's strategy and corporate plans. The role also manages the department's policy and project management pool to strengthen policy capability and responsiveness, reporting, insights and ePMO.

About You

You are a strategic and collaborative leader with demonstrated experience in developing and coordinating complex policy frameworks in a public sector environment. You are excellent at identifying and connecting strategic priorities with operational delivery and have strong judgement, communication, analysis and network building skills. You can confidently own a policy solution end-to-end.

About The Organisation

We employ approximately 6,300 staff, including around 600 seasonal staff, across more than 86 locations throughout Victoria, across energy, environment, climate action, water, agriculture, and resources portfolios.

Our challenge is to maintain Victoria's liveability, with a population expected to almost double by 2050, while responding to climate change and protecting our natural environment, infrastructure and heritage for future generations. This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.

Preferred candidates will be required to:
