Position Summary
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, compliant, and profitable management of multiple operational locations within an assigned territory. This position provides leadership to Area Managers, local operations teams, and drivers while maintaining accountability for safety, customer service, regulatory compliance, equipment performance, and financial results.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and supervise Area Managers, local operations personnel, and drivers.
- Establish and maintain a culture focused on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and customer service.
- Monitor, document, and evaluate employee performance.
- Provide timely coaching, feedback, recognition, and corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with company employment policies and coordinate disciplinary actions with Corporate Human Resources.
- Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and employee retention.
- Monitor regional profit-and-loss performance and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional operating strategies that support safety, service, compliance, and profitability.
- Adjust operational strategies and daily activities as necessary to achieve performance and profit objectives.
- Manage regional revenue, expenses, labor, maintenance costs, vendor spending, and other financial performance indicators.
- Create and maintain systems for tracking operational and financial results.
- Recruit and hire qualified employees in coordination with Human Resources.
- Communicate job expectations and conduct or coordinate required new-hire and safety training.
- Review staffing levels and employee schedules to ensure operational needs are consistently met.
- Ensure employee timekeeping and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time.
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Partner with Environmental Managers to maintain regulatory compliance throughout the region.
- Hold Area Managers, local managers, drivers, and other team members accountable for safety, service, and performance expectations.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and job-site representatives.
- Address operational or customer-service concerns promptly and professionally.
- Inspect operational sites, equipment, and company property regularly.
- Ensure work locations are maintained in a clean, safe, professional, and compliant condition.
- Report significant operational, equipment, safety, or property concerns to the General Manager.
- Ensure required daily operational reports, safety meetings, time reports, and supporting documentation are completed.
- Manage vendors and service providers to support operations efficiently and economically.
- Oversee properties supporting regional operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, lease agreements, and landlord expectations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and properly use required personal protective equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous multi-site operations management experience required.
- Proven experience managing operations, employees, equipment, budgets, and customer relationships.
- Experience in waste management, organic recycling, transportation, environmental services, agriculture, or a related industry preferred.
- Experience managing DOT-regulated transportation operations strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management and operational tracking systems preferred.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record required.
- Class A CDL preferred.
Work Environment
This position works in office, operational, customer, and outdoor environments. The employee may occasionally be exposed to:
- Inclement weather
- Wet or humid conditions
- Fumes or airborne particles
- Dust, noise, and heavy equipment
- Strong or unpleasant odors
- Active truck yards and industrial work areas
Employees must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE while working in operational areas.
