Role Summary:

The Volunteer Communications Specialist will lead and manage all organizational communications, ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling messaging across all platforms. This role focuses on developing high-quality written content, including press releases, announcements, campaign messaging, and digital communications. The position ensures that all communications efforts are strategic, aligned with our mission, and effectively communicate our programs, partnerships, and impact to diverse audiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and edit content for press releases, announcements, reports, newsletters, and website pages.
  • Create compelling copy for digital campaigns, including Google Ads, social media, and outreach materials.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, voice, and branding across all communication channels.
  • Draft communication materials for partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and organizational updates.
  • Support the development and execution of communication strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Translate technical and programmatic work into clear, accessible, and engaging narratives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between communications and program goals.


Requirements:

  • Background in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, English, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience writing for nonprofits, climate, sustainability, or impact-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, content strategy, or social media management.
  • Experience with press and media relations.
  • Ability to simplify complex or technical topics into clear, engaging content.
