In this Electrical Engineer/Designer role, you will design, develop, and oversee electrical systems and components to ensure they function safely, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications and regulations. The position will be responsible for designing electrical systems for building, infrastructure, machines, or products, ensuring the functionality, safety and compliance, and developing layouts schematics, specifications, and bill of materials for power distribution and control systems.
Complete electrical design packages for projects and/or products
Project Management & Delivery
~ Deliver all assigned electrical design milestones on or ahead of schedule
Maintain minimal budget deviation on electrical design hours
Lead/participate in ensuring design alignment with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems
Improve cross-discipline coordination by developing and implementing a standardized electrical design checklist
Continued education in electrical engineering topics and standards
Obtain/maintain electrical certifications
Mentor others in core electrical design methodologies
Innovation & Process Improvement
Identify and implement software, tools, and/or workflow that improves role efficiency
Electrical Design Proficiency
Skilled in CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, EPLAN, etc.).
Deep knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, and local building codes.
Project Management
Produces clear, detailed, and accurate construction documents, specifications, and reports.
Ensures documentation supports permitting, installation, and inspection processes.
Checks for consistency and constructability in electrical layouts.
Works effectively with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, architectural, civil).
Diagnoses problems logically and develops engineering solutions.
Uses data and simulation tools to support design decisions.
Responds effectively to changing project requirements or new technologies.
Embraces continuous learning and process improvement.
Quickly identifies and resolves design, installation, or system integration challenges.

Electrical System Design
Design power distribution, data, and other low-voltage systems.
Develop single-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, and load calculations.
Select electrical equipment and components based on technical and cost considerations.
Prepare detailed electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
Ensure designs comply with local/industrial codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL508A) and project standards.
Project Coordination
Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, architectural) to avoid conflicts.
Attend design and project meetings, providing input on electrical aspects.
Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and shop drawing reviews during construction.
Site Visits and Inspections
Conduct site assessments to gather existing conditions and verify installations.
Perform construction inspections to ensure compliance with design intent.
Support commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
Code Compliance and Quality Assurance
Stay current with updates to electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Review and validate electrical designs for quality, functionality, and constructability.
Project and Team Support
Assist in developing project schedules and estimating design time and costs.
Research and propose new materials, technologies, or approaches that improve performance and reduce costs.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and/or Associate degree or technical diploma in electrical design or drafting
~ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or FE certification (optional).
~ Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
~ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and/or EPLAN for electrical drafting and modeling.
~ Strong grasp of National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, NFPA, IEC) and/or industrial panel standards (UL508A).
~ Understanding of low-voltage systems, grounding, circuit protection, and control systems.
~ 0–2 years for entry-level or junior designer roles.
~3–7 years for mid-level or project engineer/designer roles.
~Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance.
~ Ability to manage time and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
