We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-oriented Medium Voltage Power Engineer to support the pre-sales process for utility-scale Microgrids with natural gas generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Photovoltaic (PV) solutions. This role focuses on developing equipment specifications from medium voltage lines to distributed energy systems and involves defining transformers, switch gear, protection devices, and cables.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-oriented Medium Voltage Power Engineer to support the pre-sales process for utility-scale Microgrids with natural gas generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Photovoltaic (PV) solutions. This role focuses on developing equipment specifications from medium voltage lines to distributed energy systems and involves defining transformers, switch gear, protection devices, and cables.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales teams and system engineers to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support technical proposals for microgrid solutions, including BESS, PV, and generators, including system architecture, product selection, and performance modeling.
- Specify and detail the MV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
- Interact with key suppliers and partners to develop customized skidded solutions for medium-voltage equipment.
- Evaluate grid interconnection requirements and ensure compliance with utility standards (IEEE 1547, UL 1741, etc.).
- Create preliminary single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and system configurations for utility-scale projects.
- Prepare load calculations and perform protection coordination, equipment selection, and sizing for medium voltage electrical systems .
- Work with R&D teams in Asia to ensure alignment between proposed solutions and product capabilities.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of microgrid systems on-site or remotely.
- Support responses to RFPs/RFQs with accurate and compelling technical documentation. Ensure designs meet customer specifications, site constraints, and applicable standards.
- Participate in customer meetings and presentations to explain system capabilities and value propositions.
- Provide market feedback to product teams regarding trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
- Support modeling of grid impact and system behavior under various operating conditions.
- Analyze system performance and degradation based on customer application.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in utility-scale medium voltage equipment (12kV to 69kV).
- Ability to travel up to 20%
- Excellent communication skills and experience in customer-facing technical roles.
- Familiarity with UL9540, UL1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE C57, IEEE C37, NFPA 855, NFPA70, NEC and other relevant standards.
- Experience with hybrid systems (PV + BESS + Genset) and microgrid configurations.
- Experience in AutoCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, or equivalent design tools.
- Knowledge of PQM and relays and understanding of Modbus, Modbus/TCP, DNP3, IEC61850 and other related control and communications protocols.
- Experience with electrical studies and modeling software (ETAP, SKM).
