The Team:

The Purpose Sustainability team is part of Deloitte's Growth & Purpose organization. The Sustainability Team leads efforts to achieve Deloitte’s Net-Zero by 2040 target, by driving responsible climate choices in our organization and beyond. We identify and implement opportunities to reduce emissions on the path to net zero, pursue everyday sustainability within the organization (by embedding sustainability across internal policies and practices and empowering our people to take positive climate actions), and report transparently on our progress.


The Lead, Business Program Management will help shape and deliver Deloitte’s sustainability goals through program management including the innovation portfolio, employee engagement strategy, and business case development. This role will play a key part in advancing the firm’s Path to Net Zero by developing actionable strategies to achieve the firm’s goals related to innovation in value chain mitigation and beyond value chain mitigation. Additionally, this role will support leadership and employee engagement on sustainability.


Work you’ll do:

  • In support of overall Path to Net-Zero strategy:
  • Serve as technical lead on latest standards related to value chain mitigation (market mechanisms) and beyond value chain mitigation
  • Lead exploration of value chain and beyond value chain investments aligned to overall strategy, in collaboration with procurement
  • Participate in external consortia meetings to stay apprised of market developments related to innovative sustainability solutions
  • Maintain ongoing view of long-term agreements (including progress towards targets and annual budget implications) and recommend adjustments informed by external market developments
  • Support vendor relationship management and contract negotiations
  • In support of leadership and employee engagement on sustainability:
  • Maintain quarterly KPI dashboard
  • Prepare executive and board level materials (e.g., slide decks) that translate innovation strategy, market developments, and investment implications into decision‑ready insights
  • Support end-to-end planning and delivery of employee engagement strategy, including annual Earth Month campaign, Zero Waste Impact Day, and Green Team management
  • Provide input to periodic strategy refreshes, planning requests, and other similar exercises
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and field ad hoc requests
  • Conduct weekly and day-to-day project management across multiple workstreams, defining agenda items, and communicating across and outside of the team


Strong candidates should possess the ability to:

  • Interpret stakeholder comments / feedback and recommend a path forward, including in ambiguous situations or when there is conflicting information
  • Clearly and succinctly communicate complex quantitative information and choices in a way that enables leaders to understand tradeoffs


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience including quantitative analyses with a successful record in meeting stakeholder expectations
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of a foundational understanding of corporate environmental sustainability topics (e.g., scopes of emissions, Science-Based Targets, Greenhouse Gas Protocol)
  • Interest in sustainability and climate change topics, and sensitivity to the complexities of change management in a large organization
  • A good understanding of general business operations with advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly the ability to conduct scenario analyses in Excel and develop PowerPoint content for executive audiences
  • Ability to anticipate and address potential problems or questions regarding projects
  • Strong English and Spanish oral and written communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Costa Rica without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional services firm experience a plus
  • Self-motivated, organized, proactive, and self-managed
  • Attention to detail, organization, and great follow-up skills essential
  • Familiarity with the carbon offset / credit landscape
