Position:  Program Manager
Location: Boston, MA - 02163
Duration: 10 – 12 months contract (may get extended)  
Pay Rate: $60–$65/hr
Work Schedule: 35 hours/week - Hybrid
 
 
Description:
 
The Program Manager will be responsible for temporarily managing one or more established Client  programs that serve faculty, staff or students. Represents program to public, University community and those served by the program. Ensures that program and service delivery objectives are met while under management. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to forecasting revenues and expenses, creating a budget for the program, allocating resources from one area of the budget to another with limited review, negotiating with external suppliers, signing contracts of significance on behalf of the program, creating and implementing department systems, practices, policies and procedures, and developing and maintaining internal and external constituent relationships. The Manager will maintain and use files, records, materials and digital content about the program. Candidate should have 3+ years of program management experience in a large scale, complex higher education or non-profit setting.
Job Description

The Program Associate for Climate Entrepreneurship at the Client  Innovation Labs will play a critical role in supporting a suite of programs aimed at empowering emerging climate-focused ventures. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, program management expertise, and a strong commitment to advancing sustainability.
 
The mission of the Client  Innovation Labs is to foster an innovation ecosystem across Client  University that inspires, connects, and advances entrepreneurial leaders and innovators through its three-lab ecosystem: the Student i-lab for student-led ventures, the Alumni Launch Lab for alumni-led ventures, and the Pagliuca Client  Life Lab for biotech and life sciences startups founded by Client  students, alumni, faculty, and postdoctoral students.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Program Planning and Coordination:
o        Manage an annual calendar and cadence for climate entrepreneurship programming, ensuring all key milestones and deadlines are met.
o        Manage recruitment, application vetting, participant orientation, and ensure program events happen smoothly, either by leading these efforts or collaborating with internal teams.
o        Oversee the application review process for the Climate Circle Accelerator and the "How to Create a Climate Venture" class.
o        Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate fair and efficient selection processes.
Event and Program Logistics:
o        Organize and execute events, workshops, orientations, pitch days, show cases and program-related activities, ensuring high-quality experiences for participants.
o        Manage logistics such as registrations, speaker coordination, material preparation, recordings, and follow up communications.
o        Work closely with HIL's program, operations, and communication teams to help create best practices, standard operating procedures, and utilize existing systems.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities for "How to Create a Climate Venture" Non-Credit course:
o   Help preparing registered participants, including ensuring all have access to materials, calendar invitations and virtual link access.
o   Support in class delivery, including managing class logistics, assisting with class materials, and facilitating in-class activities.
o   Facilitate the participant group chat, meet ups, and provide wayfinding for participants to leverage supplemental tools, recordings, and resources for their venture journeys.
o   Schedule with guest speakers and share their backgrounds and tools on the course platform.
o   Facilitate group office hours for participants to go deeper on relevant topics.
Data and Records Management:
o   Collect and manage program data, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for reporting and evaluation purposes. Partner with HIL Technology and Data Management team to ensure that data is integrated in CRM system.
o   Utilize program management tools to track participant progress and program outcomes.
o   Keep venture resource guides and toolkits up to date with the latest climate entrepreneurship information.
Communications:
o   Work with the internal Marketing and Communications team to set up press coverage opportunities for venture teams to be featured. This includes ensuring an annual cadence that builds from key climate events, soliciting and editing information for entrepreneur profiles, and working with staff to place profiles in mainstream media.
o   Draft and distribute regular climate-focused newsletters to external stakeholders, showcasing climate venture achievements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o   Work closely with internal departments, such as marketing, operations, and IT, to execute program goals and activities. For key milestones, work backwards to identify key internal deadlines and ensure other teams are looped in with plenty of time.
o   Ensure smooth coordination across teams to achieve program objectives and address operational needs.
o   Draft and refine memos and presentations for climate-related collaborations within Client  and with external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:
o   Identify and address gaps in the network of climate experts by working with the Climate HIL team and the Network Engagement HIL team and other Client  climate networks to recruit, onboard, and ensure effective utilization of these experts.
o   Respond to outreach from climate ecosystem partners such as funders, donors, accelerators, lawyers, and subject matter experts, and implement systems to track and engage these partners effectively.
o   Map and monitor relevant climate stakeholders, including accelerators, policy organizations, and entrepreneurship partners, to facilitate regular engagement.
o   Support Climate Innovation Fellow(s) to complement the Climate Entrepreneurship team.
Qualifications:
·         Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
·         5+ years of experience in operations or program management, ideally within climate, entrepreneurship or a related field.
·         Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
·         Experience managing cohorts, programs, and events.
·         Strong stakeholder management experience.
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·         Proficiency in spreadsheets, data collection, management tools, and task management software.
·         Passion for climate change solutions and a commitment to supporting innovative entrepreneurs.
 
Additional Skills (Preferred):
·         Experience working in or with startups, incubator/accelerator programs, or startup funders.
·         Background in climate, sustainability, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
·         Familiarity with project management tools and platforms.

This role is a contractor position and is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA-based campus 3 days per week or equivalent. This role will generally require working hours between 9 am and 5 pm, with some evenings and weekends required to support events/workshops. To accommodate participants’ schedules, most of our student events are hosted in the early evening, and most of our climate events are hosted in the lunch hour. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager. We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (via phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.
