Job Purpose

This role establishes and leads DBS India's IPO research capabilities, acting as Principal Officer for Research to ensure regulatory compliance and provide critical analysis for pre-IPO deals, while also contributing to broader industry research and client engagement.

Key Accountibilities

  • Regulatory & Institutional Leadership
  • Act as Principal Officer for Research (NISM-licensed) and primary liaison with SEBI, ensuring full compliance with Indian research regulations
  • Lead DBIL’s SEBI registration as a research provider, including design of guidelines, infrastructure, and business plan
  • Oversee regulatory engagement and clearances for all equity and credit research in India, ensuring adherence to compliance standards
  • Supervise research publications (equity and credit) issued in India, certifying quality, integrity, and regulatory alignment
  • Deal-Critical Research & Investor Engagement
  • Provide equity research support for all India IPO transactions originated by the proposed newly constituted India ECM team
  • Deliver comprehensive pre-IPO research reports through management interactions, industry analysis, financial modelling, and site visits
  • Conduct pre-IPO investor education domestically and internationally via roadshows and presentations, strengthening DBIL’s ECM franchise
  • Aggregate and communicate investor feedback on pricing and demand, shaping IPO book-building outcomes
  • Frontline credit research on India names (high-yield and investment grade) in collaboration with Singapore credit research team, issuing joint reports to support credit sales and trading
  • Strategic Sector Coverage & Knowledge Leadership
  • Build and maintain coverage of key domestic Indian sectors, aligned with ECM and IBG priorities, and support client engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Group Research in Singapore to produce regional and cross-sector reports; deliver real-time updates on Indian industries and companies
  • Conduct bespoke research for IBG and CBG teams, including industry outlooks, client-specific insights, and internal industry teach-ins for RMs
  • Expand India sector coverage in DBS’s KQMS knowledge platform, enhancing the bank’s research footprint and relevance
  • Respond to external client enquiries with timely and high-quality insights
  • Thought Leadership & Sustainability Agenda
  • Act as subject matter expert on global oil & gas markets, providing forecasts, commentary, and publications on energy commodities for internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with Regional Economics and Strategy team, serving needs of DBIL as well as broader interests of DBS Bank
  • Shape and communicate the bank’s strategic views on energy transition, sustainability, and climate change, supporting DBS’s positioning in India and the region
  • Partner with Group Research and the Economics & Strategy team on macro and thematic research, adding an India lens to global narratives
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives—from client seminars to industry events—strengthening DBS’s brand as a trusted advisor in capital markets and sustainability in India

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record as a primary liaison with SEBI, ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks governing research in India
  • Significant experience leading the registration process for a research provider with SEBI, including the design and implementation of guidelines, infrastructure development, and business plan formulation
  • Extensive experience in building, maintaining, and expanding coverage of key domestic Indian sectors, specifically aligning with Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Institutional Banking Group (IBG) priorities
  • Overall 15-20 years of work experience
