Job Description

As our Laboratory Refrigeration Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our climate chambers (12-ton, 50-ton, and 150-ton) and dedicated refrigeration room running safely and reliably to enable high-quality testing and prototyping.

Your impact? A clean, well-organized, and high-performing lab (targeting ~98% availability) that delivers accurate test results on time, supports retrofits with Danfoss components for internal teams and customers, and continually improves safety, compliance, and efficiency.

You’ll collaborate with lab personnel, project stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners, and take ownership of build/modify/test activities, preventative maintenance, and lab readiness—helping us operate more efficiently and sustainably.

Job Responsibilities

Install, wire, and troubleshoot power, controls, and instrumentation; manage refrigerant evacuation/charging/recovery per manufacturer guidance and regulations.

Execute test procedures to company standards, ensuring accurate data recording, clear handoffs, and timely issue escalation.

Maintain lab readiness: preventative maintenance, repairs, inventory/stocking, waste handling, tool care, and a clean, organized workspace.

Continuously improve: provide input on lab methods/equipment, and support assigned projects and ADC initiatives.
Background & Skills
5+ years of commercial HVAC/R experience with a strong understanding of system operation and performance optimization.

EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (A2L training provided after hire).

Proven hands-on technical ability building/modifying HVAC/R test or prototype units and replacing major components (compressors, evaporators, condensers, line components, blowers/fans, controls).

Electrical/controls & refrigerant skills: install/troubleshoot power/controls/instrumentation; manage refrigerant handling per standards; read/execute drawings, schematics, and procedures.

Teamwork & independence: organized, clear communicator, safety-minded; able to work with minimal supervision and lift up to 50 lb, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice to Have

Associate degree in HVAC or a related field.

Experience in mechanical test laboratories or field service.

Forklift, aerial lift, or rigging training/certification (company training available).

Proficiency with PCs and digital communication tools.
