Mechanical Project ManagerLocation: Fountain Valley, CACompensation: $125,000 - $200,000 (Experience-Dependent)Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout This OpportunityA leading mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of large-scale commercial mechanical construction projects throughout Southern California. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of project execution, including client relationships, financial performance, scheduling, procurement, team leadership, risk management, and project closeout.The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical construction expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP projects on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.Position SummaryThe Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and is responsible for the overall success of assigned projects from turnover through completion. This individual will lead project teams, collaborate with field operations, manage project financials, and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, consultants, and vendors.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.Maintain full accountability for project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cost control, billing, and profitability.Develop and execute project plans, schedules, procurement strategies, and staffing requirements.Manage relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and key project stakeholders.Review and negotiate contracts, change orders, and project-related agreements.Oversee project procurement activities, including subcontractor and vendor buyouts.Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule, budget, labor, and operational challenges.Lead project meetings and ensure effective communication among all project participants.Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract administration activities.Collaborate closely with field leadership to ensure efficient project execution and resource allocation.Support BIM, prefabrication, and design-build initiatives to improve project outcomes.Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.Ensure compliance with all company safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.Oversee project closeout activities, including final documentation, as-built drawings, commissioning support, and warranty requirements.Mentor Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 3 years of project management experience within commercial construction.Strong experience managing HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical, or MEP construction projects.Demonstrated success managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or other construction management platforms.Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred ExperienceMechanical contractor background.Experience managing projects valued from $10M to $100M+.Design-build and design-assist project experience.Healthcare, higher education, hospitality, commercial, public works, laboratory, or institutional project experience.Understanding of prefabrication, BIM coordination, and advanced project delivery methods.Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.BenefitsFull Benefits Included
