The Role

We're hiring a Head of Finance to own the company's core finance function (from P&L through to board pack) while acting as a key strategic partner on fundraising, capital structure, and new financing vehicles for carbon removals. This is a high-ownership role at the center of company decision-making: you'll turn complexity into clear options and make sure the business can grow without breaking its financial foundations.

What you will do

  • Own CUR8's finance operations: P&L, month‑end close, cash reporting, management accounts, and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build and maintain a scalable finance "engine": controls, approvals, spend policies, chart of accounts, and clear financial processes
  • Manage cash, treasury, payroll, vendor management and financial risk, including counterparty, credit/portfolio, FX, and basic regulatory/tax considerations across jurisdictions.
  • Design and implement scalable finance processes, controls, and systems (including the finance tech stack)
  • Lead financial planning and analysis: budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, runway management and portfolio/transaction analytics for CUR8's products and structures.
  • Own board‑level financial reporting and KPIs; provide clear, decision‑ready insights to support product, commercial, and strategy decisions.
  • Partner with founders on fundraising including modelling, materials, investor conversations, and data‑room readiness.
  • Work with legal and external advisors to design and maintain optimal entity structures for CUR8's carbon finance products.
  • Build and maintain financing models that reflect contract structures (e.g., offtake-backed revenue, repayment waterfalls, covenants, reserves)

What Success Looks Like (first 3-6 months)

  • Fast, accurate close with clear management reporting and trustworthy KPIs
  • A forecasting + planning cadence leadership uses weekly/monthly to run the business
  • Fundraising readiness: institutional-grade model, clean data room, and smooth diligence
  • Finance processes that scale (controls, approvals, entity reporting) without slowing the business

What You Bring (Requirements)

Must-haves

  • 8+ years in finance roles spanning controllership/accounting and strategic finance (startup/scale-up strongly preferred)
  • Proven ownership of month-end close, management reporting, and audit coordination
  • Strong FP&A skills: budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and KPI development
  • Excellent financial modelling skills (3-statement / scenario models; ability to model structured cashflows when needed)
  • Experience supporting fundraising: diligence, data rooms, investor materials
  • Strong cross-functional and external stakeholder management (banks, lawyers, auditors, tax advisors)
  • Finance systems implementation experience (Xero/NetSuite, expense tools, BI/reporting)
  • High judgment, high integrity, and comfort operating with ambiguity

Nice-to-haves (strong differentiators)

  • Experience with SPVs, structured finance, project finance, receivables financing, or warehouse facilities
  • Familiarity with climate/carbon markets, offtake contracts, and long-dated delivery/revenue risk
  • Cross-border structuring exposure (UK + US entities, multi-currency treasury)
