Job Summary


The Procurement Specialist combines corporate responsibilities within the Procurement Department with hands-on support for country teams and projects. The role spans PV, wind and BESS, covering key equipment (modules, inverters, trackers, HV) and services (EPC, technical advisory, QA/QC).


This position is based in Madrid with occasional national/international travel.


Job Responsibilities


Reporting & BI

  • Lead internal and external reporting that informs company strategy and decision-making.
  • Gather business intelligence and market insights, including CAPEX data on component and raw material prices.
  • Monitor technological developments and industry trends.
  • Manage relationships with external advisers and consultants and oversee their reports.
  • Work closely with country origination and development teams to maintain up-to-date project information and prepare accurate regional demand forecasts.
  • Consolidate regional forecasts into a company-wide demand forecast to underpin the global procurement strategy.


Vendor Management

  • Own vendor management, including supplier qualification, financial and ESG risk assessment, and oversight of active contract volumes.
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier information and qualification status in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Hold regular updates with vendors and coordinate with Compliance, Health and Safety and Finance to keep supplier records current.


Operational Procurement activities

  • Support Procurement Managers across RFI, RFQ and RFP processes: preparing documentation, issuing tenders, and analyzing and benchmarking proposals.
  • Attend supplier meetings and assist with negotiations, including direct supplier negotiations requiring an understanding of contractual and legal language.
  • Work under the guidance of a Procurement Manager, in collaboration with the Project Team and, where appropriate, external advisers.
  • Lead procurement activities independently for specific projects when assigned.
  • Follow up with suppliers during project execution to ensure contractual obligations are met to the agreed schedule.
  • Monitor schedules and shipments, manage delivery documentation and verify invoice requirements.


Improvement of processes and procedures

  • Act as a core member of the Procurement team, not a support or back-office function, drawing on a broad, cross-functional understanding of the company’s activities.
  • Contribute feedback and recommendations to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Participate in lessons-learned sessions, workshops and task forces.


Job Requirements


Competencies

Technical

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with MS Project and Power BI is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of AI and workflow automation is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of PV and BESS technologies; knowledge of wind technology is an advantage.
  • Procurement experience in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on PV and BESS.
  • Experience with contractual and legal terminology in the renewable energy sector.
  • Understanding of procurement within a global organization.


Non-Technical

  • Strong organisational skills and administrative efficiency.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive in overcoming obstacles, addressing challenges and taking ownership of assigned tasks.


Education/Experience

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of information.
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics operations or a related field.
  • Experience in the photovoltaic sector, ideally including experience in the procurement of key equipment such as PV modules, inverters, trackers, BESS and HV equipment or services such as EPC, QA/QC and technical advisory.
  • Fluency or a high level of proficiency in English is essential; Spanish and additional languages are advantageous.
  • Organised and structured, with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage schedules and agendas.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Experience in a multinational environment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across diverse regions and cultures are advantageous.
  • Collaborative team player with strong relationship-management skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in project delivery and construction is advantageous.
