Role and introduction

CSRWorks International is a boutique-style sustainability advisory, assurance, training and thought leadership firm headquartered in Singapore, working with clients across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. We support organisations on sustainability strategy, reporting, climate action, sustainability ratings, human rights, and assurance and verification.

We are hiring a Japanese-speaking Sustainability Consultant to join our consulting team. This is a manager-level role for professionals with 5–7 years of relevant experience who can lead client engagements end-to-end, provide technical and commercial leadership, and contribute directly to business growth.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, take ownership of engagement delivery and commercial outcomes, and play a key role in developing client relationships, growing accounts, and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver various sustainability consulting engagements across geographies, including Japan:

  • Sustainability ratings and assessments (CDP, EcoVadis, S&P CSA), Sustainability reporting (GRI, ISSB, ESRS), Climate and carbon services, including climate risk reporting (TCFD / ISSB S2), GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2 and 3), decarbonisation roadmaps, and transition plans, Human rights and responsible business initiatives
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear technical guidance and strategic advice
  • Own project planning, execution, timelines, resourcing, quality assurance, and delivery outcomes
  • Review and sign off on technical analyses, calculations, disclosures, and client-ready deliverables
  • Lead and support business development activities, including identifying opportunities, shaping solutions, and developing proposals
  • Own or co-own engagement scoping, pricing, and commercial outcomes
  • Drive account growth through cross-selling and long-term client relationships
  • Participate in client pitches, proposal presentations, and closing discussions
  • Provide mentoring, technical oversight, and coaching to Sustainability Analysts and Associates
  • Stay current on evolving sustainability standards, regulations, and best practices, and guide their application in client work
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development, practice improvement, and thought leadership initiatives

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in sustainability consulting, advisory, assurance, or in-house sustainability roles
  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency (spoken and written) and at least working level of English proficiency is mandatory.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in one or more of the following areas Sustainability ratings and assessments (CDP, EcoVadis, S&P CSA), Sustainability reporting (GRI, ISSB, ESRS), Climate risk and disclosure (TCFD / ISSB S2), GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2 and 3), decarbonisation strategies, and transition planning
  • Human rights, social compliance, or responsible business practices
  • Proven experience leading client engagements and engaging senior client stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to balance technical rigour with commercial judgement
  • Experience mentoring junior consultants and managing team delivery
  • Professional certifications or advanced training in sustainability, climate, or assurance frameworks are an advantage
