Commercial Solar & Battery Storage

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop and execute project-specific commissioning plans in accordance with EPC contracts, OEM requirements, and engineering documentation.
  • Perform commissioning activities while ensuring alignment with project schedules and contractual milestones.
  • Identify, document, and communicate commissioning issues or system deficiencies, coordinating with construction and installation teams to achieve timely resolution.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during system energization, testing, and commissioning.
  • Maintain comprehensive commissioning records, including testing documentation, inspection reports, and performance verification results.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale and commercial solar PV and battery storage facilities.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation checks, calibration, and system diagnostics while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Complete detailed maintenance reports and work orders using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or field service platforms.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain central and string inverter systems, data acquisition systems (DAS), tracker systems, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-system components.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and job hazard analysis (JHA) procedures.
  • Perform thermal imaging inspections, insulation resistance testing, and associated technical reporting.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in accordance with operational standards.
  • Participate in technical and safety training programs to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education preferred, supported by significant field experience in renewable energy operations or commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic system design, electrical theory, and system performance characteristics.
  • Proficient in interpreting low- and medium-voltage electrical drawings, wiring schematics, control diagrams, protection systems, and equipment specifications.
  • Hands-on experience working in both mechanical and electrical environments.
  • Capable of working independently or within multidisciplinary field teams while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Flexible to support emergency call-outs or scheduled weekend maintenance when required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Working Environment

  • Regular field work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and uneven terrain.
  • Frequent interaction with energized electrical equipment, heavy machinery, and moving mechanical systems.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working at heights when required.
