Crosier Kilgour is seeking a Building Commissioning Specialist (entry-level / intermediate) to join our Building Performance team. In this role, you will lead and assist with the commissioning process for building systems, ensuring performance, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with a detail-oriented approach and a passion for optimizing building functionality. Responsibilities include planning and executing commissioning activities, conducting field inspections and functional testing, analyzing system performance, and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results. 


Job Responsibilities

You would join our group of Engineers and Technologists as a Building Commissioning Engineer or Technician (entry to intermediate-level). We work as a team, taking on growing responsibilities as we challenge each other to improve. Our work includes:


• Focus on commercial and industrial building commissioning projects (mechanical, controls, electrical), energy management, and integrated life safety testing projects.

• Provide design input including specifications, drawing review, systems start-up and testing, plus operations and maintenance documentation.

• Collaborate with internal colleagues and external project team members for successful completion of projects.

• Contribute to research and development in the field of commissioning. • Promote the growth of the commissioning service group.

• Perform site visits, carry out site inspections and conduct functional performance testing.


Candidate Requirements

As a member of our team, we expect you to have the following qualifications, with more depth and breadth expected for more experienced applicants.


Education & Registration

• Degree, diploma or certificate in an applicable field (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Applied Science (Mechanical/Electrical/Controls))

• Familiarity with building energy codes and standards (NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, 209, 55, 62.1, CSA Z320), sustainable building programs (LEED, Green Globes and the Zero Carbon Building standard), as well as the Standard for Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems (CAN/ULC-S1001).


Skills & Attributes

• Hands-on experience with building mechanical and electrical systems considered an asset

• A conviction that improved building energy performance and resilience is essential for society to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively.

• Physically able to conduct field work, comfortable at heights, confined spaces, and site inspections under varied conditions.

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit an asset.

• Eligible to work in Canada and hold a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license
