This role involves design review, inspections, testing, customer walkthroughs, and long-term performance checks to verify that work meets industry standards, company specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Design Phase QAQC
Review preliminary and final design drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with codes and standards.
• Verify equipment specifications, datasheets, and vendor submittals against project requirements.
• Ensure quality standards are incorporated into engineering deliverables and project documentation.
• Conduct document control checks, ensuring design revisions are properly reviewed and approved.
• Provide feedback to engineering teams on potential quality or compliance risks during the design phase.
• Support the development team with technical QAQC input during permitting and regulatory review processes.
Construction & Installation QAQC
Perform inspections of solar installations, including mechanical, structural, and electrical components.
• Verify compliance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Ensure adherence to safety codes, NEC (National Electrical Code), and local regulations.
• Monitor workmanship quality and identify corrective actions where necessary.
Testing & Commissioning QAQC
Conduct functional testing of solar PV systems, including string testing, insulation resistance, IV curve tracing, and inverter startup.
• Verify performance metrics align with manufacturer and project standards.
• Document deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Customer Walkthrough & Closeout
Lead project closeout inspections and create punch lists for outstanding items.
• Conduct customer walkthroughs to review system performance, workmanship, and warranty standards.
• Provide system orientation to the customer, explaining equipment, monitoring platforms, and O&M procedures.
• Ensure final QAQC documentation package (as-builts, test results, warranty information, and inspection reports) is complete and delivered.
• Confirm that all corrective actions and punch list items are resolved before project handover.
• Support final customer acceptance and sign-off on project completion.
Annual Maintenance & Ongoing QAQC
Perform annual system inspections, ensuring PV modules, racking, inverters, and electrical connections remain in good condition.
• Conduct performance testing, including IV curve tracing and system monitoring checks, to validate system efficiency.
• Identify preventive maintenance needs and corrective actions to maintain long-term reliability.
• Document findings and provide maintenance reports to customers.
• Coordinate with service teams to address warranty claims, repairs, or system upgrades.
• Maintain customer relationships by providing technical support and ensuring continued satisfaction.

• Compile QAQC documentation for client handover, compliance audits, and long-term service records.
• Support commissioning and project management teams with ongoing QAQC updates.
Collaboration
Work closely with project managers, engineers, installers, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues.
• Provide feedback and training to design, field, and service teams on QAQC best practices.
• Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders regarding system quality, performance, and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in solar PV design review, installation, inspection, quality assurance, or maintenance.
• Knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and applicable codes (NEC, OSHA, IEC).
• Familiarity with testing tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, thermal imaging cameras, and IV curve tracers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design, workmanship, and long-term reliability issues.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
