Our media message needs to encourage a stronger sense of place, with better urban design, good quality of life and greener, safer neighbourhoods for everyone who lives in, works in or visits London.

What are we looking for?

Key Skills & Experience

Preferably with 3 or more years’ experience of communications roles with excellent writing and editorial skills, good attention to details, and familiar with managing messages in the media.

Additionally experience of team management would support coordination of the volunteer contributions and help shape the overall strategy to deliver effective media content.

  • Experience of writing for publications and the web
  • Great communication skills and an engaging style of writing
  • Content editing and attention to detail
  • An interest in environmental issues and enthusiasm for our aims
  • Work independently and as part of a team

What will you be doing?

Opportunity of a flexible, hybrid role to show your flair and marketing skills to communicate environmental causes effectively across a range of media. Here is a chance to use your ability to coordinate content that helps us to convey our messages clearly, accurately and concisely with the public and with a range of institutions, local authorities, political bodies and other stakeholders, mainly across London.

Communications is central to who we are and what we do. We have a diverse range of campaigns and on-the-ground projects that help us with our mission to make London a well-planned, greener, climate resilient and nature rich city, which benefits everyone.

This aim of this role is to support our Director, colleagues and volunteers with internal and external comms, shape the team and the future communications strategy. Other duties may include email marketing, social media and oversight of the website.

Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to help us champion environmental issues such as the climate crisis, renewable energy, biodiversity and sustainable transport.

We are seeking to expand our current, small dedicated team, so if you can offer limited time during 'term time' or 'school holidays' we aim to accommodate flexible working patterns for the benefit of consistent content delivery.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Duties may include, but are not limited to

  • Coordinating the messaging from campaign comms and social media volunteer team
  • Using your creativity to write compelling copy which raises the profile and work of CPRE London
  • Proofreading, restructuring and editing articles
  • Developing a balanced range of new content which may include current news, opinion pieces and campaign features for our communications to update the CPRE London website
  • Working with the social media volunteer to promote new content
  • Overseeing overall content in line with brand guidelines, liaising with the national CPRE communications and website team
  • Optimising published pieces for SEO

Our team will provide training and support to develop your role.
