Cox South Africa is looking for a Substation Supervisor based in Klerksdorp.


Responsabilities:

  • Managing daily operations and maintenance, including assembling, lifting, and installing equipment.
  • Implementing and enforcing strict safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., HSE, such as performing daily tailboard meetings.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, including in emergencies.
  • Developing technical planning of work.
  • Able to interpret drawings on site
  • Coordinating with utility providers, engineers, and construction crews.


Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 to 10+ years of experience in electrical site supervision, substation maintenance, or high-voltage (HV/MV) construction is typically required, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  • A relevant technical qualification (e.g., N4/N6 in electrical trade), is usually necessary. Some roles may accept equivalent extensive experience.
  • Deep understanding of substation equipment (transformers, switchgear, C&I, circuit breakers), protection systems, and ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Journeyman electrician certification is often required. Specific safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CPR) are common prerequisites.
  • South Africa, Eskom Standards, and OHS Act compliance is crucial.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are required to manage teams and liaise with contractors.
  • A valid driver's license.
