Deputy Commissioning Manager - PV Projects

Cox South Africa is looking for a Deputy Commissioning Manager.
The role includes joint leadership of the commissioning team together with the Commissioning Manager and assumption of site responsibilities when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise electrical commissioning activities including PV arrays, inverter stations, medium voltage networks and substations.
- Support and coordinate energization activities ensuring readiness of electrical systems and completion of required commissioning tests.
- Act as responsible person for Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out procedures and sign permits in the absence of the Commissioning Manager.
- Coordinate equipment vendors and specialized subcontractors during commissioning and electrical testing activities.
- Maintain commissioning planning and support preparation of commissioning progress reports.
- Ensure commissioning tests are executed according to approved procedures and properly documented.
Requirements:
- Minimum five years experience in commissioning of electrical systems in power generation projects, substations or similar electrical infrastructure.
- Previous responsibility for the electrical commissioning scope of a project within a commissioning organization or department.
- Demonstrated experience with Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out systems in energized electrical installations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline, master’s degree considered an advantage.
- Solid technical knowledge of medium voltage systems including transformers, switchgear, substations and electrical commissioning tests.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
