Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Intern to assist its work in the area of low carbon economy, particularly revolving around India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Long-Term Strategy (LTS) and water-energy nexus in India. The work will constitute data collection and processing, literature review, and data visualisation. The work aims to feed into the modelling activities done in the Low Carbon Economy team, aim to assess India’s current climate targets and inform the larger water-energy nexus debate in India.


Low Carbon Economy’s work on modelling and policy analysis is driven with the broader objective to support India’s energy and climate policy through evidence based unbiased research and cutting-edge analytical approaches. The candidate should have a strong interest in working with data, climate policy issues along with inclination towards understanding India’s and global Net-Zero debate.


Job Duties and Accountabilities

Research

  • To assist in any research related activity for the water-energy nexus project
  • To assist in data processing and cleaning for any of the research objectives
  • To research the current information on India’s NDCs and LTS
  • To assist in any other administrative task
  • To survey and analyse the research data using different data analysis software and tools

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree with specialisation in Engineering, economics, or related subjects.
  • Should have a strong inclination and awareness about global climate commitments, discussions on net-zero and long-term strategies, including an understanding of analytical research
  • High degree of comfort with quantitative and qualitative analysis


Main skills

  • Ability to do literature review and summarise key findings.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; Good report writing skills
  • Ability to use MS Office application suit including proficiency in MS Excel.

  • Willingness to learn new (research and project management) skills
  • Ability to adapt to new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
  • Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output
