Founding Engineer (EnergyTech/AI):

  • London | Hybrid (3 days onsite)
  • £70k to £120k + Equity
  • EnergyTech / AI Startup

A venture-backed London start-up is building a next-generation energy platform designed for the electrified future.

As renewable energy grows, the real challenge is no longer just generation, it’s managing flexibility, storage and demand intelligently. This business is building the technology platform behind a new kind of power company designed specifically for that future.

Founded by operators from some of Europe’s most respected energy platforms and backed by leading investors, the company has already launched its first product and is seeing rapid month-on-month growth. The next phase is scaling the engineering team ahead of launching a fully integrated energy supplier platform later this year.

This is an opportunity to join a small, high-impact engineering team building core systems from the ground up.

The Role:

  • You’ll work across the full stack to build the core systems powering both customer-facing products and internal energy operations.
  • Engineers in the team take ownership of problems end-to-end: from shaping early ideas through to shipping production features.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building full-stack product features across backend services and web applications
  • Designing APIs and data models for energy and customer platforms
  • Integrating external systems including energy hardware and data sources
  • Developing AI-enabled features and internal tooling
  • Contributing to core supplier infrastructure including billing, operational tooling and internal systems
  • Working closely with founders and customers to shape product direction

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend = React, React Native, TypeScript
  • Backend = Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure = GCP, Terraform, Airflow
  • AI = LLM integrations and AI-driven automation

What They’re Looking For:

  • Experience as a Full-Stack Engineer building production software
  • Strong fundamentals across backend and frontend development
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment
  • A proactive mindset with a bias toward ownership and solutions
  • Interest in EnergyTech, ClimateTech or infrastructure platforms is a strong plus

Engineers who succeed here tend to enjoy working close to the product, communicating clearly across teams, and taking initiative to solve problems quickly.

Package:

  • £70k to £120k salary depending on experience
  • Meaningful equity package
  • Private health insurance
  • Meal allowance and regular team dinners
  • Hybrid working (3 days per week in the London office)
