Position Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, as a member of our Engineering Operations Team, you will lead and coordinate electrical design, installation and commissioning activities across various projects, delivering energy efficiency and grid demand solutions to our range of customers across various sectors in Ireland, Europe and beyond.


Our range of recent projects include but is not limited to, technologies such as industrial heat pumps, battery energy storage systems, standby generators, cogeneration, metering solutions, LED lighting, etc.


You will split your time between office-based design tasks and site-based engineering visits (during all stages of a project), as well as providing expertise on site during installation, commissioning and handover stages of our projects.


You will work with a wider team of solutions engineers (mechanical, process, refrigeration and controls) and our team of project engineers and project managers.


The Key Accountabilities of the Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Attend the site as part of a wider team to scope and develop project opportunities
  • Contribute to Front-End Engineering Design activities prior to contract close
  • Lead electrical detailed design activities post contract close
  • Attend FATs on major equipment and switchgear as required
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure the electrical scope is delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Develop the Electrical Scope of Works and Request for Proposals for a variety of projects, including management of the tender process.
  • Take technical ownership of electrical engineering aspects of assigned projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Manage and coordinate electrical contractors and subcontractors to ensure works are executed safely, to specification, and in line with programme and cost requirements.
  • Review and approve contractor technical submissions, method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with project standards and H&S requirements.
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems on-site.
  • Support maintenance activities for the electrical generation plant under the remit of CoolPlanet


Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years post-graduate experience
  • Energy Efficiency / Renewables project experience would be desirable, particularly in an Electrical Contracting environment
  • Masters qualification in Electrical or Energy-related topics would be desirable
  • Clean driving licence and car, and the ability to travel across Ireland
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills
  • MV experience is an advantage

Location: Our office is based in Powerscourt House, Co. Wicklow. We offer a hybrid working model of 2 to 3 days on-site with the opportunity to work flexibly.
