Position Overview We are seeking a hands‑on and strategic US Director Commercial Analytics to lead the design, implementation, and management of ContourGlobal’s commercial analytics function in the U.S. This foundational role will be responsible for building the data infrastructure and quantitative modeling tools needed to optimize energy trading, manage portfolio risk, and drive asset‑level insights.
Key Responsibilities Build & Lead Analytics Function
Hire, develop, and manage a high‑performing team of Senior and Junior Quants
Establish scalable analytics processes, tools, and governance frameworks to support real‑time and long‑term commercial decision‑making
Define and evolve the analytics vision and roadmap in alignment with business growth and strategic priorities
Design & Manage Data Infrastructure
Build and maintain a robust data architecture that integrates market, asset, trading, and financial data
Develop automated pipelines and storage solutions to support large‑scale, real‑time energy data
Ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the commercial organization
Lead development of advanced models for forecasting, pricing, risk management, and asset optimization
Support structuring of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), fuel procurement strategies, and market bidding decisions
Ensure all models are governed, validated, and integrated into energy trading and risk systems (ETRM)
Enable Data‑Driven Decisions
Deliver insight‑driven recommendations to support trading, origination, and risk mitigation
Collaborate across front‑, middle‑, and back‑office teams to embed analytics into key commercial workflows
Develop dashboards and reporting tools to enhance visibility into portfolio and asset performance
Qualifications 10+ years of experience in commercial analytics, quantitative modeling, or data architecture within the energy, utilities, or commodity trading sectors
Proven leadership in building and scaling technical or analytics teams
Deep familiarity with U.S. power markets (e.g., ERCOT, PJM) and renewable technologies
Expertise in Python, SQL, data pipeline tools, cloud platforms, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Experience with ETRM systems and integration across trading and operational data environments
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s in a quantitative or technical field preferred
Skills Data Architecture & Engineering: Expertise in scalable data infrastructure, including pipelines, SQL/NoSQL storage, cloud platforms, and governance frameworks
Programming & Modeling: Advanced skills in Python (preferred), R, or MATLAB for statistical modeling and algorithm development
Quantitative Techniques: Strong background in time‑series forecasting, optimization, and machine learning
ETRM Systems: Familiarity with energy trading and risk management platforms and their integration with commercial operations
Business Intelligence: Experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau
Analytical Tools: Strong Excel skills for scenario modeling and ad hoc analysis
Data Ecosystems: Exposure to big data environments and modern data warehousing tools is a plus
Working Conditions This role may require occasional international travel to support global teams and attend industry events.
The position is typically based in a corporate office setting, with the possibility of remote work arrangements as part of ContourGlobal’s hybrid work policy.
Compensation A highly competitive compensation package, including a base salary, performance bonus, and long‑term incentives, will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
