Head of Content and Storytelling – S.A. Freelance Remote


CWP (Content With Purpose) is seeking a talented and forward-thinking Head of Content and Storytelling to join our dynamic, purpose-driven and fully remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping and overseeing the storytelling vision behind our award-winning digital content.


As the Head of Content and Storytelling, you’ll combine journalistic rigour, editorial authority, and hands-on production experience with creativity and commercial awareness. You’ll oversee a core team of freelance producers and editors to guide narratives, shape messaging, and ensure every piece of content aligns with our purpose — creating meaningful, trustworthy, and engaging stories that resonate deeply with audiences globally.


The role reports directly to CWP’s Founder & Managing Director and involves close collaboration with the Head of Production and Head of Content Marketing. Together, you’ll drive the strategic direction of the company and enhance the impact of our storytelling and campaigns.

Example Content

Travel Redefined: Tourism for People and Planet is a digital series CWP produced in collaboration with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Launched in 2025 at the GSTC Annual Conference in Fiji, it showcases inspiring stories of destinations, businesses, and individuals redefining tourism to benefit both people and planet. The series was filmed across 27 counties and 6 continents, will all filming carried out by local crews.

About the Role – Head of Content and Storytelling


Key Responsibilities

Projects & Campaigns

  • Oversee the editorial strategy and vision for all campaign content (predominantly video), setting the tone, style, and quality standards.


  • Act as a hands-on editorial producer – scripting, shaping treatments, guiding storylines, and giving constructive editorial feedback to producers and editors.


  • Lead conversations with Content Partners and member bodies to ensure campaign content achieves editorial integrity, narrative clarity, and commercial relevance.


  • Research focus industries and help uncover key issues, opportunities, and storylines in collaboration with the Series Development team.


  • Build strong partner relationships, ensuring content supports their aims while aligning with CWP’s mission and maintaining commercial viability.


  • Develop and oversee project briefings and story frameworks, aligning themes, messaging, and audience targeting with the Head of Content Marketing.


  • Plan and develop editorial treatments and scripts that align with CWP’s purpose and editorial style.


  • Collaborate with Content Partners to uncover strong stories, guide narratives, and ensure editorially robust outputs.


  • Maintain quality control across all deliverables, ensuring journalistic rigour and high production standards.


  • Partner closely with the Head of Production to lead and mentor producers and editors, helping them grow creatively and professionally.


  • Keep campaigns on track — decisive, pragmatic, and calm under pressure, ensuring projects move forward efficiently.


Collaborate with the Head of Content Marketing to:

  • Implement audience engagement strategies.


  • Evaluate campaign impact and performance.


  • Apply insights to strengthen future projects.


CWP Profile / Content

  • Work with the Head of Content Marketing to raise CWP’s editorial profile and strengthen our position as a credible voice in sustainability and purpose-led content.


  • Develop and maintain CWP’s editorial guidelines and brand voice, ensuring consistency across all platforms.


  • Provide editorial direction for CWP’s own content calendar and storytelling initiatives.


Company Development

  • Contribute to senior leadership discussions on company strategy, growth, and impact.


  • Support CWP’s broader environmental, social justice, and better business goals.


  • Mentor and inspire team members, nurturing an inclusive and high-performing creative culture.


Experience and Skills

Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in editorial, content creation, journalism, or video production (ideally B2B, documentary, factual, or current affairs).


  • Strong background in hands-on content production — scripting, editing, and shaping stories.


  • Proven track record of developing and executing impactful editorial strategies and campaigns that drive engagement and deliver results.


  • Experience leading senior-level client or partner relationships and managing editorial reviews with confidence.


  • Used to working at pace, balancing multiple projects, and maintaining composure under pressure.


Skills

  • Editorial authority – journalistic curiosity, story judgment, and confidence in shaping narratives.


  • Creative and strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.


  • Hands-on production experience – understanding filming, editing, and post-production workflows.


  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills; able to develop and support less experienced producers.


  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with an eye for detail and authenticity.


  • Commercial awareness – able to balance editorial integrity with partner needs.


  • Confident communicator, able to represent CWP’s voice in senior partner conversations.


  • Comfortable collaborating remotely and using digital tools such as Monday.com, Frame.io, and the Microsoft suite.


  • Calm, decisive, and adaptable in fast-paced environments.


  • Deep understanding of video-driven storytelling and emerging digital formats (AI, new platforms, etc).


  • Passion for sustainable development, climate action, and social progress.
