Expected salary range of $65,700 to $73,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Primary Purpose Of Position

Join Constellation as a Plant Mechanic and be a key player in our Combined Heat and Power Facility! As a Plant Mechanic you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of plant equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Plant equipment includes valves, pumps, blowers, compressors, heat exchangers, boilers, and other associated equipment. Duties and responsibilities may include other associated tasks as directed by the Combined Heat and Power Plant Manager.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and minor repair on plant equipment as assigned.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages.
  • Assist in the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Follow all approved plant operating, maintenance and health and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned. Other duties may include assisting with mechanical maintenance, equipment calibrations, general housekeeping, etc.
  • Maintain & monitor safe working conditions; identifies, corrects, and reports unsafe work areas, enforces safety compliance.
  • Performs mechanical installations, repairs, and replacements as needed.
  • Complete on-time delivery of maintenance services while ensuring compliance with company standards for cost control, quality, safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as lubrication, inspection, mechanical alignment, and vibration monitoring, coordinating with Operations staff to ensure continuity of service.
  • Source parts, manage inventory, and coordinate with other trade personnel or contractors to support maintenance activities.
  • Work overtime on a regular basis to support plant outages, emergency work, and other critical needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training (trade or military).
  • Five years power plant or industrial plant, mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, data, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret block diagrams, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Must be able to speak English plainly, write work orders and understand oral communications.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Decisions are made based on formal procedures, calculations, deductive reasoning, and consultation with supervisor.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, talk, hear and use hands.
  • Required to reach with hands and arms and to climb and balance.
  • Required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
