The Conservative Energy Network (CEN) is seeking an accomplished and results-driven Director of Development to provide strategic leadership across the organization and its four regional teams serving twenty-six member states. This senior leadership role is responsible for advancing and sustaining local, state, and national fundraising efforts while overseeing strategy, revenue growth, donor engagement, board partnership, and development operations.


The Opportunity

Development & Fundraising (primary function)

  • Create, lead, and execute CEN’s comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, grants, and partnerships.
  • Build and manage an annual development plan with revenue goals, KPIs, timelines, and campaign targets.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and retain donors across individual, corporate, foundation, and institutional channels.
  • Oversee all fundraising pipelines, including annual and planned giving, major gifts, foundation grants, small-dollar donors, and event sponsorships.
  • Oversee maintenance of CRM system and donor tracking processes.
  • Research grant opportunities and oversee writing and submission of LOIs, proposals, budgets, reports, renewals, and compliance.
  • Maintain a grants calendar and ensure timely submission of all materials.
  • Partner with the CEO/COO and CEN Board of Directors on major donor engagement and high‑value solicitations.
  • Manage development staff and CEN fundraising consultant.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and collaborative, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the scope of the development function and contribute significantly to CEN’s continued organizational growth and impact.


Education, Experience, and Specialized Training:

  • At least 7 to 10 years of fundraising, campaign, and/or program management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in communications, political science, or another relevant field.
  • Experience working for issue advocacy nonprofits, public affairs firms, or political campaigns is preferred.
  • Experience working with energy is a plus.
  • Experience with strategic planning and professional development a plus.


Salary: $150k to $190k
