Come join Zero Waste Food Management Services in New England | Bright Feeds!!
Bright Feeds
Bright Feeds is a New England-based startup addressing the food waste crisis by diverting unwanted food from landfills and transforming it into a high-quality, nutrient-dense animal feed alternative to soy and corn. Leveraging cutting-edge AI and drying technology. Bright Feeds has revolutionized food waste processing with an energy-efficient, carbon-negative process. Bright Feeds can process a wider variety of food waste compared to other recycling methods, resulting in a more nutritious feed ingredient. The company sells its meal blends to animal feed manufacturers, who incorporate them into their products as a sustainable feed solution. Bright Feeds was included in Forward Fooding’s FoodTech 500, a prestigious global list of the top 500 AgriFoodTech companies.
Our mission is to solve the food waste crisis, a global issue costing $1 trillion per year. We offer a scalable solution to divert food waste streams from landfills, a problem that corporations, municipalities and states are spending significant time and resources to address.
- First Mover – Bright Feeds opened CT’s first food-waste-to-animal-feed plant in Berlin (near Hartford) in 3Q22. Received the largest food waste permit in CT history, allowing intake of 450 tons/day over 10 years.
- Technology – Bright Feeds uses patented technology, AI, and systems to process food waste at scale, and measure, monitor, and customize production to ensure consistent, high-quality feed for clients.
- High Quality Customers – Bright Feeds’ blue-chip customers are willing to pay a premium to Bright Feeds given the high quality, consistency, flowability and purity of the feed product demonstrated over time and via lab testing.
- Sustainability – Bright Feeds’ process is carbon-negative. A lifecycle analysis (LCA) prepared by Oklahoma State University indicates that at capacity the Berlin plant will prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 33,700 cars every year, or about 155,000 tons of carbon.
- Growing Rapidly - Bright Feeds is forging key partnerships with food processors, waste recyclers, and feed mills to support regional and national expansion. The company has already secured supply for its second facility, which will establish a presence across 4 states.
- High IRR – The company estimates that at capacity, one plant can generate $25M+ of revenue, $9M+ of EBITDA and an ROA of 35%+.
