Outreach Sales Representative- Energy Efficiency
Our company is a mission-driven organization focused on delivering energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and decarbonization solutions to underserved and affordable housing markets nationwide. We partner with utilities and government agencies to design and implement high-impact programs that reduce energy burden, improve comfort and health, and support climate and equity goals.
Position Overview:
The Outreach Sales Representative– Energy Efficiency is responsible for enrolling eligible New Jersey multifamily affordable housing (MFAH) properties into our Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) and The Home Efficiency Rebates (HER) program. This includes educating customers on available incentives and converting qualified leads into customer contracts in alignment with program rules.
The ideal candidate combines consultative sales skills with comfort working within structured utility/state program rules, and the discipline to maintain accurate data in the CRM system. And building strategic partnerships with property owners and trade organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Generation & Outreach
- Drive customer participation in NJ HEAR and HER programs through:
- Outreach to leads provided by utilities, partners, and marketing campaigns.
- Referrals from contractors, trade allies, and existing customers.
- Maintain a robust, accurate sales pipeline in the CRM, tracking lead source, stage, probability, and projected savings/revenue impact.
Engagement & Enrollment
- Conduct phone, virtual, and on-site consultations to:
- Explain NJ HEAR & HER program benefits, eligibility, and process.
- Clarify available incentives and financing (where applicable).
- Set appropriate expectations about timelines and program requirements.
- Complete all required forms and disclosures (program enrollment, consent, data-sharing), ensuring alignment with the program requirements.
- Coordinate closely with schedulers, auditors, and internal teams to ensure smooth handoff from enrollment to project completion.
Internal Collaboration & Market Development
- Work closely with the company’s NJ operations, QA/QCI, and contractor management teams to ensure that scopes are realistic and implementable.
- Relay customer feedback, barriers, and opportunities to improve program design, marketing, and process.
- Represent the company's mission and brand at community events, workshops, and partner meetings.
Must Have Qualifications:
· 7+ years of demonstrated track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals in:
o Residential home services (solar, HVAC, insulation, windows, roofing, etc.), OR
o Utility/energy-efficiency program enrollment, OR
o Multifamily client sales with measurable performance targets.
· Proficiency using CRM tools and basic productivity software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams/Zoom).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical customers.
· Familiarity with NJ Clean Energy programs or other state/utility energy-efficiency initiatives.
· Basic understanding of building science (insulation, air sealing, HVAC systems, heat pumps, water heating).

Compensation:
· Base salary range: $65,000 – $70,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
· Performance-based incentive/commission structure tied to completed sales and program results.
· Reimbursed mileage and/or vehicle allowance for approved work-related travel in the assigned territory.
