Job Summary:
We are seeking a Project Engineer II to support commercial and industrial energy efficiency and demand management programs. This role involves conducting energy audits, performing energy analysis and modeling, and supporting the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that improve energy performance and sustainability across various building sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct energy audits (ASHRAE Level II and III) for commercial and industrial facilities
- Perform utility analysis, energy benchmarking, and energy savings calculations
- Develop and review engineering calculations and assumptions for energy efficiency measures
- Prepare detailed technical reports outlining methodologies, findings, and recommendations
- Collect on-site data and deploy metering equipment for performance validation
- Analyze datasets and operational trends to support engineering decisions
- Support implementation of energy efficiency measures including HVAC upgrades, electrification, lighting, controls, and building improvements
- Manage multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and deliverables simultaneously
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance and responses
- Provide technical support to stakeholders, including customers and contractors
- Monitor and validate performance of baseline and upgraded systems
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and energy technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or related field)
- 3–6 years of experience in energy auditing, energy analysis, energy modeling, or engineering analysis
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, energy systems, and building science
- Experience with energy modeling tools such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or similar
- Proficiency in spreadsheet-based analysis and energy calculations
- Knowledge of energy codes and standards such as ASHRAE and IECC
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on field experience with mechanical and energy systems
- Experience developing energy conservation measures (ECMs) and calculating savings
- Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer in Training (EIT), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or similar
- Strong client-facing and team collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt and work in a dynamic, project-driven environment
