## **Position Overview**
The Compost Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day compost manufacturing and yard operations at the Back Gate Farm. You will learn the composting process and how to operate and maintain our equipment.
## **Responsibilities**
- Monitor and maintain compost piles to ensure proper feedstock mix and moisture
- Operate a front loader to move compost piles in our aerated composting system
- Use a heated pressure washer to clean and sanitize operating equipment and collection vessels
- Operate a rotary trommel and conveyor to screen compost
- Prepare and deliver inventory for sale, including bagged and bulk material
- Maintain yard aesthetics through basic landscaping
- Schedule and perform basic equipment maintenance like greasing and DEF
- Lead team members in compost operations and scheduling
- Document and forecast compost manufacturing operations based on established methods and processes.
## **Requirements**
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no CDL required).
- Ability to lift and carry 50--75 pounds repeatedly.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Availability for up to five weekdays, minimum of three (8:00 AM -- 12:30 PM)
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work independently and unsupervised.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Tolerance of odors and physical labor.
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability to learn and improve Compost Queen standard operating procedure
## **Compensation & Growth**
- $18 to $23 per hour based on experience and aptitude
- Compensation evaluation at 90 days.
- All employees receive complimentary composting service.
- Safety equipment provided: shirts, high visibility vest, sunscreen, eyewear, ear and head protection.
- On job training provided -- you don't need to be a composting expert!
