Brief Description:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Power & Commercial Strategy to lead the commercial strategy for a growing renewable energy portfolio. The role will focus on power procurement, energy transactions, commercial negotiations and risk management across large-scale energy projects.


Job Description:

· Develop and execute the power-market and commercial strategy

· Lead the sourcing, structuring and negotiation of PPAs, wheeling, grid-access and power-sale agreements

· Manage commercial relationships with IPPs, utilities, traders, suppliers and other key stakeholders

· Develop pricing, risk, credit and hedging strategies

· Build commercial models, investment cases and board-level recommendations

· Ensure agreements are commercially robust and bankable

· Monitor South African electricity-market, tariff and regulatory developments

· Lead and develop the commercial power team


Skills & Experience:

· Significant experience in power markets, energy trading, renewable energy or energy infrastructure

· Proven track record in negotiating and closing complex energy transactions

· Strong understanding of the South African electricity market, wheeling and regulatory environment

· Strong commercial, financial modelling, negotiation and risk-management skills

· Experience working with project finance and senior stakeholders

· Minimum 8 years of experience


Qualification:

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Energy, Law or a related field

· MBA, Finance/Energy Economics qualification or relevant professional training would be advantageous.
