Overview

We are seeking a skilled, safety-minded Solar Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with both mechanical and electrical scopes of solar installation, working efficiently as part of a crew to deliver high-quality, code-compliant solar arrays. This role involves outdoor work in a variety of conditions, including rooftops and ground-mount sites, and requires a strong work ethic, positive mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install solar racking, modules, and balance-of-system components for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.

  • Perform electrical work including conduit installation, wire pulling, and terminations.

  • Perform basic labor such as trench digging and site cleanup.

  • Maintain high workmanship standards, ensuring all work meets NEC and project specifications.

  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.

  • Follow safety protocols, including fall protection and proper use of ladders and PPE.

  • Troubleshoot basic electrical or mechanical issues under guidance from site leads or electricians.

  • Keep work areas organized and contribute to efficient material staging and cleanup.

  • Support site leads and electricians in achieving daily production goals.

  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Previous solar installation or related construction experience (mechanical and/or electrical).

  • Familiarity with conduit routing, racking installation, and wiring best practices.

  • Ability to work safely at heights and in varying weather conditions.

  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various outdoor conditions.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in both mechanical and electrical scopes of solar installation.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • NCCER, NABCEP, or other industry-related credentials.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a field-based role requiring work on active construction sites. Travel to job sites across the Virginia, Maryland, and DC region is required, with lodging and per diem provided for non-local projects.
