Overview:

Commonwealth Power is looking for a technical lead to bridge the gap between field electrical work and digital monitoring. As our Lead Comms Tech, you won't just be pulling wire; you will be the "brain" of our systems, ensuring that utility-scale and commercial solar assets are communicating perfectly.

REQUIREMENTS

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Field Experience: 3+ years of experience in controls and instrumentation (solar background preferred).
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and wiring diagrams.
  • Safety Leadership: Active OSHA 10 (Construction) and NFPA 70e certifications.
  • Physical Readiness: Capability to work in various troubleshooting manufacturer hardware or network connectivity issues in the field.
  • Reliability: A valid drivers license and the ability to maintain a consistent schedule to support our field teams.

Preferred (But Not Required):

  • Experience with Procore or similar project management platforms.
  • Hand-on experience with specific solar hardware (Inverters, Met Stations, Data Acquisition Systems, SCAOA, and Modbus/Cellular gateways).
  • Experience leading small crews or managing subcontractors on-site.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $70,000 - $80,0000 annually based on experience

Work Environment & Travel

This position is primarily field-based, with regular travel to active project sites across the Virginia, Maryland, and DC region and office based work in Richmond, VA. Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided for travel.
