Investment Associate Director / Investment Director
About Colesco Capital
Imagine helping to finance the businesses and projects that are developing and scaling solutions to some of Europe’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Colesco Capital (www.colescocapital.com) is an independent, sustainability-led private credit manager backed by the Rabobank Group. Through our investment strategies, we aim to unite capital and purpose by providing tailored financing solutions to businesses and projects across Europe. Our Circular & Climate Credit Impact Fund (C4IF) focuses specifically on financing businesses and projects with the potential to generate intentional, additional and measurable environmental impact.
As we continue to grow C4IF and our broader impact investment activities, we are looking for an Investment Associate Director or Investment Director to join the team and contribute to the next phase of the strategy’s development.
The big picture
Many businesses developing circular and climate solutions face a financing challenge as they move from demonstrated technology towards commercial scale. C4IF seeks to address this gap by providing non-bank debt financing to businesses and projects at this stage of their development. The strategy is focused on building a high-quality portfolio of investments that combine attractive risk-return characteristics with the potential to generate measurable environmental impact, while helping to mobilise capital towards the transition to a more sustainable and resilient economy.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Investment Associate Director or Investment Director to join the team responsible for C4IF. The strategy considers opportunities across a broad range of themes, including the energy transition, the circular economy, sustainable food production and regenerative agriculture, selecting investments based on their risk-return-impact profile.
C4IF provides bespoke financing solutions tailored to the needs of individual businesses and projects, including project finance, growth finance and portfolio finance structures. Experience with one or more of these financing structures would be an advantage.
Working as part of a small team of experienced investment professionals, you will take a leading role across the full investment lifecycle, from origination and initial assessment through due diligence, structuring and execution to ongoing portfolio management. You will work directly with management teams, investors and other partners across the circular and climate ecosystem, combining rigorous credit analysis and transaction execution with relationship building and active portfolio engagement.
As an Investment Director, you will also contribute to the development of the wider investment team, proactively coaching and mentoring junior colleagues and sharing your experience beyond your own assigned transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transactions across the full investment process, including identifying and developing origination opportunities, initial assessment, financial and sustainability analysis, structuring, negotiation, documentation and execution. Assess opportunities against C4IF’s investment mandate, risk appetite, commercial potential and sustainability criteria.
- Lead and coordinate due diligence processes, working with internal colleagues and external advisers to develop a well-evidenced view of financial and non-financial risks.
- Prepare, present and defend investment proposals through the relevant investment committee processes, bringing together commercial, financial, credit, sustainability and risk considerations and ensuring recommendations are consistent with the Fund’s mandate and risk appetite.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with prospective (co-)investors, advisers, co-lenders and other relevant stakeholders, contributing to the continued development of C4IF’s network and helping to enhance deal flow.
- Build trusted relationships with management teams and structure and negotiate financing solutions that balance the needs of borrowers with appropriate commercial terms, credit protections and, where relevant, sustainability-linked terms.
- Work closely with co-investors and other ecosystem partners, including venture capital and public investors, corporates and Rabobank teams.
- Take an active role in portfolio management, monitoring financial and sustainability performance, identifying emerging credit, commercial and sustainability risks, and engaging with borrowers throughout the life of an investment. Contribute to the assessment of amendments, waivers and other portfolio actions where required.
- Contribute to the continued development of C4IF, including the evolution of the investment strategy and broader fund initiatives.
- Support and coach junior investment professionals through guidance, constructive challenge, knowledge sharing and feedback, contributing to their development and the quality of the team’s work.
- Contribute more broadly to Colesco’s continued growth and development as a European private credit manager, supporting both its investment and impact objectives.
