Senior Environmental Engineer

CoLAB NET4CO2 is seeking a highly qualified Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Business Development team. This team maintains an updated database of technologies and processes, that help industries reach carbon neutrality, to develop different business cases and perform techno-economic and environmental assessments. The group has an integrated approach to carbon capture, transport, utilization, and geo-storage, and follows the latest standards for carbon footprint and sustainability reporting.

 

Main responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary projects, including planning, execution, monitoring of activities, timelines, deliverables and risk mitigation.
• Organise and support dissemination and engagement activities, including workshops, focus groups, seminars and other knowledge-transfer initiatives targeting industry and stakeholders.
• Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for various industries and R&D projects and provide actionable insights to reduce environmental impacts.
• Monitor national and international policies and regulatory frameworks related to climate neutrality, CCUS, energy transition and sustainability, and integrate relevant developments into project activities.
• Provide technical expertise in the integration of sustainability strategies and environmental best practices into existing operations.
• Prepare technical deliverables, including sustainability reports, policy briefs, technical notes, presentations and other deliverables aligned with recognized environmental standards and frameworks.
• Identify strategic partnerships and collaborate with external partners, research institutions and industry experts.
• Contribute to proposal writing and consortium building of funding opportunities.

 

Required skills:

• PhD in Environmental Engineering, or MSc in Environmental Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
• More than 2 years of experience in LCA, preferably using SimaPro.
• Proven experience in coordination and management of R&D projects, elaboration of proposals for competitive funding.
• Experience in environmental policy tracking and understanding of global sustainability regulations.
• Ability to work in both short-term and long-term projects.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems.
• Good communication skills in English (spoken and written)
• Valid working VISA to work in Portugal.

Location: based in Porto (Portugal)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base annual gross salary range, according to experience:

PhD: €30,800 - €33,600

MSc: €23,800 - €26,600

• Meal allowance of €10.46 per day, paid via meal card.
• Health insurance provided by Medis (including dental care).
• 40-hour working week, spread over five 8-hour working days, with flexible working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• 25 days of annual leave (22 days in accordance with labour law + 3 additional days: birthday, 24^th December and 31^st December)
• Possibility of working remotely one day per week, subject to agreement with manager.
