Assistant Accountant
CodeGen Solar is seeking a detailed-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support daily financial operations, project accounting, vendor payments, inventory management, and tax compliance. In this role, you will work closely with procurement, sales, and engineering teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth cash flow routines for solar projects across the island.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment vouchers for solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical components.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve pricing, quantity, or shipping discrepancies.
- Coordinate local vendor payments and assist with foreign supplier settlements (e.g., LCs, TTs).
- Prepare and issue progress invoices for residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar projects based on project completion milestones.
- Monitor payment collections, process receipts, and maintain up-to-date customer ledgers.
- Track bank financing/loan conversion payments and liaise with partner financial institutions.
- Track stock movements, goods received, and material issuances for active solar installation sites.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts at the central warehouse and perform stock reconciliations.
- Assist in calculating job profitability, material usage variance, and direct labor costs per project.
- Prepare standard journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and monthly fixed-asset depreciation schedules.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations for multi-currency accounts and credit card settlement facilities.
- Maintain cash flow monitoring sheets and assist with petty cash management.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documents for statutory filings, including VAT, SSCL, WHT, and EPF/ETF.
- Ensure compliance with Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SLFRS/LKAS) and local tax regulations.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, and budget variance analyses.
- Compile audit working papers and coordinate with external and internal auditors during annual financial audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Partly or fully qualified in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka, or AAT.
- 02 – 04 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within renewable energy, construction, engineering, manufacturing, or import/distribution sectors.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Odoo, or Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced skills in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, financial schedules).
- Basic knowledge of project costing, inventory controls, and trade finance (Letters of Credit) is an advantage.
- Strong numerical accuracy and high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (proficiency in Sinhala/Tamil is a plus).
