Position Summary
The Land Agent will play a critical role in originating and securing land positions to support the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role is responsible for proactive landowner outreach, negotiation of site control agreements, and coordination with development, legal, and commercial teams to advance projects from origination through early-stage feasibility. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and experienced in negotiating land agreements in rural and semi-rural markets.

This role is responsible for proactive landowner outreach, negotiation of site control agreements, and coordination with development, legal, and commercial teams to advance projects from origination through early-stage feasibility. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and experienced in negotiating land agreements in rural and semi-rural markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize target parcels based on GIS screening, interconnection proximity, transmission access, and development criteria.
- Conduct direct outreach to landowners via phone, mail, in-person meetings, and community engagement.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with landowners and local stakeholders.
- Educate landowners on renewable energy development processes, lease structures, and project timelines.
- Negotiate option agreements, lease agreements, easements, and purchase agreements.
- Structure agreements consistent with company underwriting standards and risk thresholds.
- Coordinate with legal counsel to finalize land contracts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of landowner communications and executed agreements.
- Assist with title review, curative actions, and resolution of encumbrances.
- Support survey coordination, access agreements, and right-of-way acquisition.
- Support development and interconnection teams to ensure land control aligns with project design and transmission strategy.
- Serve as a local point of contact for landowners during early-stage development.
- Attend community meetings as needed to support project messaging.
- Identify and mitigate land-related risks that may impact project viability.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in land acquisition, right-of-way, renewables, or infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating land agreements and easements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust with rural landowners.
- Familiarity with renewable energy development processes preferred.
- Ability to travel frequently within assigned development regions.
- Proficiency with GIS tools, and Microsoft Office.
