Commercial Solar Sales Representative
Job Description
The Role
We're looking for a driven Commercial Solar Sales Representative to join our team in Mountain View. This isn't your average sales gig—you'll be responsible for the entire sales cycle, from finding new leads to closing the deal. We'll give you leads to start, but we're looking for a true self-starter who can hunt for new business and build strong, lasting relationships with commercial clients.
The ideal candidate knows the ins and outs of solar technology and financial models. You should be able to take complex concepts and explain them clearly and convincingly to business owners and C-level executives. If you have a proven track record in B2B sales and a passion for renewable energy, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Finding and managing leads: Proactively identify new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and industry events. You'll manage your pipeline from start to finish and keep clients updated using our CRM.
- Providing expert advice: Meet with potential clients, review their electric bills, and assess their site conditions to understand their needs and goals.
- Designing custom solutions: Work with our in-house design and engineering teams to create tailored proposals. You'll include system layouts, financial projections (like ROI and payback period), and an overview of available incentives and tax credits.
- Presenting and negotiating: Deliver compelling proposals to C-level executives and key decision-makers. You'll handle questions, address concerns, and negotiate contract terms to close the sale.
- Keeping things organized: Maintain accurate records of all your sales activities and client information in our CRM.
- Staying ahead of the curve: Keep up with the latest solar technology, market trends, financing options (like PPAs and loans), and government incentives to be a trusted advisor for your clients.
- Collaborating with the team: Work closely with our project managers and operations team to ensure a seamless transition from a closed sale to a successful installation.
- Hitting your goals: Consistently meet or exceed your monthly and quarterly sales targets.
Who You Are
- Experienced: You have 4+ years of proven experience in commercial solar sales and a history of closing big, complex deals.
- Technical: You're comfortable running site visits, creating layouts with software like Aurora or EnergyToolBase, and designing rough systems with a Statement of Work (SOW) and Bill of Materials (BOM). You understand different utility rate schedules, the 30% ITC, depreciation, and other industry regulations.
- Financially Savvy: You can easily calculate and explain financial metrics like ROI and IRR to clients.
- A strong communicator: You have excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- A self-starter: You’re highly motivated and can work independently without constant supervision.
- A problem-solver: You have exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Passionate: You have a genuine passion for sustainability and the renewable energy industry.
- Ready to go: You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client visits.
