Climeaction Horizons is an Irish industrial decarbonisation and carbon intelligence consultancy headquartered in Cork, with offices in Kilkenny and Boston. We work with some of the world's largest industrial energy users - including pharmaceutical, medical device, food beverage, and advanced manufacturing companies - helping them reduce energy costs, achieve regulatory compliance, and deliver credible net zero programmes.

As we grow our US presence, we are looking for a CAaaS Engineer to support a complex manufacturing facility in Georgia under Climeaction's Climate Action as a Service (CAaaS) retainer model. This is an on-the-ground, client-facing technical role at the heart of how Climeaction delivers ongoing decarbonisation support to industrial clients.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a CAaaS Engineer to act as the embedded technical lead for a complex manufacturing facility in Georgia, delivering continuous energy and carbon performance improvement under our CAaaS retainer model. This is not a one-off audit role you will build a long-term relationship with the site, becoming the trusted technical point of contact for energy and decarbonisation matters, and driving a structured programme of measurement, analysis, and improvement over time.

The right person will have strong industrial energy engineering fundamentals, comfort working inside a regulated or quality-critical manufacturing environment, and a genuine track record of helping sites reduce their carbon footprint, not just measure it. Experience in a validated or quality-system-driven manufacturing setting (such as ISO 13485) is a strong plus given the complexity of the facility, but is not essential what matters more is a demonstrated record of delivering decarbonisation outcomes on industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities

Site Delivery CAaaS Programme Management

  • Act as the primary on-site technical contact for the client under the CAaaS retainer model, maintaining a continuous presence and programme of works at the facility
  • Develop and maintain the site's energy and carbon performance baseline, tracking progress against decarbonisation targets over time
  • Identify, scope, and develop energy efficiency and decarbonisation opportunities across utilities, process systems, and building services
  • Lead measurement verification (MV) activity for implemented projects, applying IPMVP methodologies to confirm savings
  • Support the client through capital project development for larger decarbonisation initiatives, including business case development and technical input to procurement
  • Maintain and develop site-specific energy models, dashboards, and reporting using Climeaction's energybee platform

Technical Regulatory

  • Apply strong working knowledge of industrial utilities and process systems including steam, compressed air, HVAC, process heating and cooling, and electrical systems
  • Navigate the constraints of operating within a complex, multi-process manufacturing environment, balancing energy improvement opportunities against production, quality, and validation requirements
  • Where relevant, work within or alongside the facility's quality management system (e.g. ISO 13485) to ensure proposed changes are compatible with validated processes and change control procedures
  • Support the client's ISO 50001 Energy Management System, including internal audit support, gap analysis, and continual improvement activity
  • Stay current on US federal, state, and utility-level energy efficiency and decarbonisation incentive programmes relevant to the site (e.g. utility CI efficiency programmes)

Client Relationship Reporting

  • Build strong working relationships with site engineering, facilities, EHS, and sustainability stakeholders
  • Prepare and present regular progress reporting to client stakeholders, clearly communicating technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Identify opportunities to expand the scope of Climeaction's engagement at the site, working with the commercial team to develop proposals
  • Represent Climeaction with credibility and professionalism in client meetings, steering committees, and site reviews

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the development of Climeaction's engineering frameworks, tools, and the FAST decarbonisation framework based on lessons learned on site
  • Share knowledge and best practice with the wider Climeaction engineering team across Ireland, the UK, and the US
  • Support the development of case studies and reference material demonstrating delivered decarbonisation outcomes

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification engineering experience, with a significant portion in industrial energy efficiency, energy management, or decarbonisation
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering decarbonisation outcomes at industrial or manufacturing sites — not solely audit or assessment experience
  • Strong technical breadth across core industrial energy systems: steam, HVAC, compressed air, process heating and cooling, electrical systems, and building services
  • Experience with energy auditing and measurement verification, including IPMVP Option methodologies
  • Comfortable working independently on a client site over an extended engagement, with the judgement to manage competing priorities and stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage confidently with site engineering teams, facilities and EHS stakeholders, and client leadership
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Desirable

  • Experience working within a complex manufacturing facility operating under a quality management system such as ISO 13485 or ISO 9001, including familiarity with change control and validation constraints
  • Experience with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, including gap analysis, system implementation, and internal auditing
  • Knowledge of US federal, state (Georgia), or utility-level energy efficiency and decarbonisation incentive programmes
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting, Scope 1/2/3 emissions reporting, and industrial decarbonisation pathways
  • Experience in a consultancy or multi-client environment, with exposure to proposal writing or business development
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional accreditation

Who Thrives In This Role

The best CAaaS Engineers at Climeaction are people who care about outcomes, not just analysis — engineers who want to see a decarbonisation project through from identification to verified savings, and who build the trust on site to keep being asked back. You will need to be comfortable being the only Climeaction person in the building most days, confident enough to hold your ground on technical judgement, and pragmatic enough to work within the real constraints of a complex, quality-driven manufacturing environment.

You will have real autonomy in how you run the site programme, direct access to Climeaction's wider engineering team and tools for support, and the opportunity to build a long-term, high-trust client relationship at one of our key US sites.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary aligned to US industrial energy engineering market benchmarks
  • Performance-related bonus linked to client delivery and site outcomes
  • Primarily on-site role based at the client facility in Georgia, with periodic travel to other Climeaction US and Irish offices
  • Access to Climeaction's engineering frameworks, tools, and the energybee platform
  • CPD support and professional membership fees
  • Role in a fast-growing, B Corp-certified consultancy with genuine international reach
