We’re on the hunt for a qualified and resourceful HR Generalist to support our growing HR department. The HR Generalist (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will work with the HR team in cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for all our employees. The HR Generalist (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) will be responsible for implementing initiatives and practices that support our efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive organizational culture. As a member of the HR team, this role will support HR processes and administration, both as a process owner and as backup to others on the team.

Essential Tasks

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Research, develop, recommend, and execute creative strategies to foster an inclusive work environment.
Review current practices and policies to ensure that they support the organization’s diversity goals.
Work in collaboration with Senior HR Director in developing equitable HR policies and practices. Consider the global footprint of ClimateWorks and the context of diversity, equity and inclusion for staff located outside the US.
Support and contribute to the overall ClimateWorks Justice and Equity strategy and plan, including working with the Chief of Equity, Justice and Culture on organization-wide initiatives and priorities.
Assist with the planning, scheduling, and coordination of the DEI Working Group meetings, including the design and development of meeting agendas and other communications/tools.
Leverage data to evaluate DEI metrics (including demographic data) and translate data analysis into recommendations for solutions to drive continual improvement.
Identify key Diversity & Inclusion topics for training and development in an effort to advance and support Diversity and Inclusion at ClimateWorks.
Maintain knowledge of diversity and inclusion issues, legislation, and best practices, and share and apply that knowledge with the team.


Support the organization and HR through the development and coordination of key external partnerships, including establishing relationships with multicultural centers or cultural studies departments at local colleges and universities and establishing relationships with professional associations, affinity groups, and professional networks.
Research, design and propose programs that improve outreach to new potential staff, which may include internship and fellowship programs with a focus on diversity.
Work with Senior HR Director and HR Team in implementing focused outreach efforts to attract a qualified and diverse pool of candidates, including focused outreach efforts that target non-US based candidates.

Onboarding and Retention

Work with Senior HR Director in establishing a comprehensive onboarding experience that fully integrates new hires in a hybrid and global work environment.
Collaborate with HR team and other functional areas in establishing an inclusive onboarding experience that promotes ClimateWorks’ unique pillars of culture, mission, employee value proposition, and brand.
Identify and implement systems and processes that enhance the onboarding experience.
Gathers candidate and new hire experience and feedback to enhance processes.
Support retention of staff with a particular focus on inclusion and diversity.

7 to 10 years of experience working in the human resources field with at least 3+ years of experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience implementing large scale strategies, initiatives, and projects
Demonstrated experience in the development of DEI policies, processes, and tools.
Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to people policies and practices.
Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives.
Strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently (both virtually and in-person) with minimal supervision
