The Role

Climate People has been retained by Graphyte to identify a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead the company’s commercial team as it scales its carbon removal solution and expands adoption among corporate buyers and strategic partners. The CCO will own commercial strategy and execution across revenue, business development, partnerships, and marketing/communications, and will play a central role in shaping Graphyte’s market presence as the company enters its next phase of scale.


This role is a senior leadership position responsible for helping Graphyte to realize its ambition to be the largest supplier of durable carbon removal in the world. The CCO will leverage Graphyte’s existing commercial traction to drive the next phase of growth.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Commercial strategy & ownership: Define and execute Graphyte’s end-to-end commercial strategy, including revenue growth, buyer engagement, and market expansion.
  • Enterprise buyer leadership: Build and deepen relationships with major corporate buyers and partners; lead executive-level engagement to advance strategic offtake agreements.
  • Revenue execution: Own the commercial funnel from pipeline development through deal close; set clear priorities, metrics, and operating rhythms to drive performance.
  • Dealmaking & negotiation: Lead structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex carbon credit offtake agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Marketing & communications leadership: Oversee market positioning, messaging, and buyer-facing communications to support adoption, credibility, and growth.
  • Team building: Build, lead, and scale a high-performing commercial organization spanning business development, partnerships, and marketing/communications as appropriate.
  • Channel strategy: Develop and scale channel partnerships with brokers, marketers, marketplaces, and other distribution partners to extend reach and accelerate sales cycles.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Partner closely with project development, finance, and engineering teams to align commercial commitments with operational delivery and long-term scale planning.
  • Market feedback & iteration: Establish a strong feedback loop with buyers and partners to inform commercial strategy and make continuous improvements. Share market feedback with internal teams to align other functions with customer priorities, including technology development, engineering, operations, and finance.
  • New revenue strategies: Unlock new revenue strategies beyond the voluntary carbon market, including compliance carbon market opportunities.


About You

You are someone who has a proven track record in driving revenue growth into the $100+ million range, ideally with significant experience in the transition to a low-carbon economy. You may come from a durable carbon dioxide removal company with strong sales or from the buy-side with an interest in bringing more supply online. You may be leading commercial functions in other sectors in the low-carbon economy, looking to transition into durable carbon dioxide removal. Or you may be a proven business leader outside the low-carbon space looking to join a company that is laser-focused on significantly reducing atmospheric CO2 levels.


Qualifications

  • Highly motivated and deeply passionate about addressing climate change
  • 12–18+ years of commercial leadership experience across enterprise sales, partnerships, revenue leadership, and/or marketing
  • Proven track record closing and scaling large & complex B2B deals and managing executive-level customer relationships
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading commercial and go-to-market teams
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills; able to represent Graphyte externally with senior stakeholders
  • Experience operating effectively in fast-growing, ambiguous environments and building structure where needed
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience developing PowerPoint presentations and Excel models
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Location: Hybrid / Remote - US-based

Salary: Commensurate with experience and skillset

Reports to: CEO

Travel: 25% travel to support commercial priorities
