Senior Manager, International Climate Policy and Advocacy

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a strategic advocacy role in the Policy and Advocacy team at Climate Group. The Senior International Policy & Advocacy Manager plays a crucial role in strengthening the influence of leading state and regional governments globally whilst engaging with national governments and multilateral stakeholders to advance our climate goals.

The post holder will be a key point of contact for external stakeholders including national governments and UN systems, who they will work to influence together with wider the wider Policy and Advocacy team.

This is a unique opportunity to work within the international climate advocacy space and be exposed to key debates ahead of COP31 and COP32 while supporting the delivery climate action, fast.

This a full-time position that requires frequent international travel.

About the role

As Senior International Policy & Advocacy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Climate Group’s international climate advocacy, strengthening the influence of state and regional governments while engaging national governments and multilateral institutions to accelerate climate action.

Working within the Governments and Policy team and reporting to the Head of Policy & Advocacy, you will lead Climate Group’s engagement with key international processes, including the UNFCCC and COPs, and drive advocacy across major global moments such as the G7, G20 and Climate Week NYC. You will connect political intelligence, policy analysis, and on‑the‑ground relationships to influence outcomes at the highest levels.

This is a highly visible, externally facing role, requiring close collaboration across Climate Group’s global teams and trusted partnerships with governments, networks, and international stakeholders. You will represent Climate Group at major international convenings and play a central role in advancing advocacy on priority issues, including fossil fuel phaseout and systems transitions.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong network in international climate advocacy to support the Head of Advocacy and Policy in interacting with key international stakeholders to drive initiatives and actions that help to deliver the goals of the Paris Agreement.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communications skills that are put to excellent use in developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They will have an approach that ensures that goals, plans and outcomes are clearly communicated within their team, holding self and others accountable.

The nature of the role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills, as well as the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work independently as needed.

Essential

• Deep understanding of the international climate advocacy landscape, particularly with respect to non-party stakeholders agenda
• Experience working with national government departments
• Experience of strategy development and agility to respond to changing landscape while utilising relationships internally and externally
• Project development and management experience, including management of budgets and staff
• Exceptional relationship management skills and confidence in working with and influencing colleagues, senior team members and mid-level stakeholders across business and government
• Strong skills in dispute and challenge resolution with the ability to turn challenges into opportunities that benefit goals of the organisation
• Approach that drives efficiency and accountability across workstreams while managing sensitive topics and ensuring confidentiality where required
• Clear communicator with excellent writing skills
• Understanding of GDPR rules and utmost discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information

Desirable

• Experience of working internationally and across different time zones
• Experience of leading meetings and large events
• Experience of working in the not-for-profit sector
• Ability to communicate in languages other than English, preferably UN languages
• Ability to start work within a relatively short timeframe
• Operating knowledge of HubSpot

Where you’ll work

Based in our London office, near the iconic Tower Bridge, you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid working arrangement of five days in the office over the fortnight.

The role will require frequent international travel.

This is a permanent position. The salary offered is £47,160 to £49,929 per annum, based on experience.
