Senior Legal Manager
Summary
The Senior Legal Manager plays a key role in Climate Group’s small but dynamic two-person Legal team, working closely with the Head of Legal to enable our mission to drive climate action fast. While contract review and maintaining clear, ethical legal frameworks are core parts of the role, you’ll also be a trusted partner to colleagues across the organisation – helping them navigate day‑to‑day legal questions and make confident, well‑informed decisions.
You’ll operate with a good degree of autonomy, using sound judgement to keep on top of relevant legal and regulatory developments and provide practical, proportionate advice You’ll translate legal concepts into clear guidance tailored to non legal colleagues, ensuring legal considerations are understood and embedded in our work. As part of a small team, you’ll support smooth team operations to keep the function running effectively.
About the role
The Legal team sits within the Operations function at Climate Group, an award-winning international non-profit specialising in climate and energy initiatives. As a small, collaborative team, Legal works across the organisation on a diverse portfolio of high profile events and partnerships, sponsorship and marketing arrangements, international legal matters and campaign activity.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Contracting and third-party engagements – Lead the review, negotiation, and drafting of contractual arrangements, ensuring they reflect the organisation’s objectives and protect its interests. Provide clear, risk-based recommendations within agreed parameters, and develop standard templates, policies and guidance to strengthen legal consistency and efficiency.
- Legal project work – Take responsibility for legal workstreams within more complex or time-sensitive projects, offering balanced, practical advice that supports delivery. Work closely with internal teams and international colleagues to ensure legal considerations are addressed effectively, efficiently, and in line with organisational priorities.
- Continuous improvement and capability building – Support the Head of Legal in managing workflow and help identify opportunities for improvement and effective task management to streamline legal work while ensuring high-quality delivery. Contribute to mentoring and upskilling non-legal colleagues on legal best practices and risk mitigation to build organisational capability.
- Risk awareness and guidance – Play a key role in identifying, assessing and mitigating legal risks across operations, partnerships and projects, providing clear, pragmatic recommendations that help teams make confident and informed decision-making.
- Stakeholder engagement – Build trusted advisor relationships across the organisation, positioning Legal as an enabling and solutions-focused partner.
- Strategy delivery and team operations – Contribute to the delivery of the legal strategy by helping ensure legal considerations are integrated into major initiatives and day-to-day decisions. Support the effective running of the Legal team through administrative support such as maintaining records, updating templates, and assisting with team processes and coordination.

Confident guiding non legal colleagues through complex issues, and comfortable turning legal detail into practical, proportionate advice that helps people get things done.

You bring a solution focused mindset, sound judgement, and a constructive approach that supports effective decision making and positive outcomes. Essential
- Practising solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of UK contract law and intellectual property.
- Demonstrable experience drafting, reviewing, and interpreting a range of agreements.
- Proven ability to navigate and advise on data protection requirements (including GDPR and PECR) within a complex organisational environment.
Desirable
- Experience working with non‑legal stakeholders, providing clear and accessible guidance.
- Experience in charity law.
- Experience in competition law.
- Previous in‑house experience.

Where you’ll work
Based in our London office, near the iconic Tower Bridge, you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid working arrangement of five days in the office over the fortnight.

This is a permanent position. The salary offered is £58,000 to £64,000 per annum, based on experience.
