About Climate Fresk UK

Climate Fresk UK is part of a fast-growing global initiative with over 2 million participants globally and almost 100k trained facilitators in 175+ countries. Our interactive, evidence-based workshops are based on a powerful card game that helps people and organisations make sense of climate change, how it relates to their lives and work, and how they can make a difference together.

We’ve just set up Climate Fresk UK as a Community Interest Company (CIC) - with a board of volunteer Directors - and are looking for passionate volunteers to take on other roles to help us grow and coordinate Climate Fresk’s mission in the UK (independent from the French parent organisation).

About the role

We're looking for a volunteer Community Coordinator to:

  • Support our volunteer Freskers to deliver impactful workshops and facilitator training in their local communities, in all areas of the UK
  • Work with the Community Engagement Director to implement a strategy

This is a role for someone who loves building communities, connecting people, and operating the systems that help volunteer-driven organisations flourish. We see this as a particularly exciting opportunity for emerging community facilitators in universities and youth groups, so definitely give this a try if this describes you

Key responsibilities

This is a flexible, self-directed role, so we are open to how you approach this. Here are some examples of what your role *might* look like:

  • Develop and deploy practical toolkits for local community engagement (running regular events, finding partner organisations, participant recruitment, publicity)
  • Capture and share examples of good practice across the UK Fresker community
  • Coordinate a working group of volunteers to support, and track, the deployment of Generation 2 Climate Fresk workshops in community events
  • Support the hosting of regular group / community calls and events for facilitators to share experiences, ideas, and learn best practices
  • Support the Fundraising Director and Community Engagement Director in building grant proposals to support community Fresk workshops and training new Freskers.
  • Support the Fundraising Director to activate deployment of funding from grants and corporate donations in relevant communities.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in community engagement, volunteer management, or grassroots organising
  • A natural connector who can inspire and support volunteers at different stages of their journey
  • Practical, hands-on delivery experience
  • Experience of working remotely to help others organise activities in their locality
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Comfortable creating systems and toolkits that empower others to take action
  • Understanding of what makes local climate action successful and sustainable
  • A collaborative, enabling leadership style - you're here to support others to shine
  • Deep belief in people-powered change and the power of community
  • Being a Fresker yourself is highly desirable.

If the scope of this role feels a little intimidating, but you feel excited by some of it, please still get in touch - we’re keen to explore options & open to reconfiguring roles to accommodate. We’re building a committed team that can get things done.

What you’ll gain

  • Experience building and supporting a national volunteer network
  • Connection with passionate volunteers and changemakers across the UK
  • Real impact - enabling thousands more people in communities across the UK to understand and act on climate change
  • The chance to experiment, learn, and develop innovative approaches to community engagement
