What are we looking for?

We are looking for a new Trustees to join our Board with specific expertise in Fundraising and Development.

We seek a trustee with strong fundraising expertise to support our growth. The ideal candidate will bring

  • Proven fundraising experience across multiple income streams
  • Strong networks, especially among potential major donors
  • Insight into digital fundraising
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance and open doors to new supporters

We particularly welcome minority ethnic applicants and applicants under the age of 35 since we wish that the trustee board reflects the diversity of communities that the charity serves.

What will you be doing?

Climate Ed is looking to recruit a new trustee to its Board.

This is an opportunity to contribute to an exciting and innovative organisation which is making a real difference to children and their futures. You will be part of a dedicated and fun team of people who are working hard to educate young people on the climate issue.

Trustees are unpaid and are expected to attend approximately six Board meetings a year (evenings, online) as well as participating in subcommittee meetings where applicable.

The statutory duties of a Trustee are to

  • Ensure that Climate Ed complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
  • Ensure that Climate Ed pursues its objects as defined in its governing document
  • Ensure Climate Ed uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objects, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are.
  • Contribute actively to the Board in giving firm strategic direction to Climate Ed, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
  • Safeguard the good name and values of Climate Ed.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient administration of Climate Ed.
  • Ensure the financial stability of Climate Ed.
  • Appoint the senior staff member(s) and monitor their performance.

Other Duties

In addition to the above statutory duties, each Trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. This may involve

  • Scrutinising Board papers
  • Leading discussions
  • Focusing on key issues
  • Providing guidance on new or existing initiatives
  • Other issues in which the trustee has special expertise
