Role Description The Head of Policy and Advocacy is a full-time, on-site role based in Wales, United Kingdom, responsible for leading Climate Cymru’s policy agenda and advocacy strategy. This role oversees the development of evidence-based policy positions, drafts policy briefs and consultation responses, and engages directly with decision-makers, including government officials, elected representatives, and key stakeholders. The position involves managing advocacy campaigns, coordinating with partners and member organizations, and ensuring that diverse community voices inform Climate Cymru’s priorities. The Head of Policy and Advocacy will represent Climate Cymru in public forums, coalitions, and working groups, while providing strategic guidance to colleagues on influencing opportunities and legislative processes. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring policy developments, building relationships across sectors, supporting communications related to policy work, and contributing to organizational planning and reporting.

Qualifications
- Strong policy analysis and development skills, including experience drafting policy papers, consultation responses, and advocacy materials.
- Demonstrated expertise in climate, environmental, or social justice policy, with a solid understanding of Welsh and UK governance and legislative processes.
- Proven advocacy, lobbying, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and sustain relationships across government, civil society, and community groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience in strategic planning, campaign design, and impact evaluation within a policy or advocacy context.
- Inclusive leadership and team collaboration skills, including experience coordinating cross-organizational initiatives and working with diverse communities.
- Ability to work on-site in Wales, manage multiple priorities, and respond to fast-moving political and policy developments.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in public policy, politics, environmental studies, law, social sciences, or a related field; experience in Welsh policy contexts is highly beneficial.
