About Climate Connectors:

Climate Connectors is a boutique consultancy focused on helping high-impact organizations, including NGOs, philanthropies, and social enterprises, navigate critical moments.

Whether it’s launching an organization or designing and implementing new strategies and programs, Climate Connectors works closely with senior leadership, acting as both a strategic architect and thought partner, embedding itself within client organizations to help develop the capacity, tools, structures, and funding needed to enact their missions.

Climate Connectors focuses its work on climate, environment, agriculture, and social justice organizations.

The Role:

Climate Connectors is seeking a Strategy & Research Associate to collaborate closely with the Principal in supporting strategic engagements with multiple clients.

You will be a core part of a small team, responsible for executing a wide range of tasks that bring client strategies to life. This role combines research, writing, and project management. This is primarily a strategic support role, working "behind the scenes" with the Principal to execute client deliverables at a high level.

What You'll Do:

Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth research on new topics, from philanthropic landscapes and funder mapping to best practices in nonprofit governance or blended finance.
  • Synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and actionable memos for the Principal and clients.
  • Perform landscape and ecosystem analyses to identify strategic gaps and opportunities for clients.

Drafting & Content:

  • Create robust "first drafts" of key client deliverables based on outlines and notes from the Principal.
  • This includes building pitch decks, writing 2-page "door-opener" briefs, drafting sections of Theory of Change documents, and co-writing strategic plans.
  • You'll be expected to not just transcribe, but to add value, structure, and your own narrative insights to the drafts.

Project & Process Management:

  • Track all project timelines and deliverables across 2-3 clients to ensure nothing is missed.
  • Manage client recruitment processes: This includes drafting JDs, posting roles, managing the candidate inflow, and scheduling interviews for the Principal.
  • Take detailed, actionable notes during client calls and workshops, ensuring all next steps are captured.

Client Support:

  • Prepare polished, client-ready agendas, supporting materials, and presentations for key meetings and workshops.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Exceptional writing, research, and synthesis skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage projects in a remote environment.
  • Extremely strong organizational and project management skills.
  • High proficiency across Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets) & Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • A strong design eye, with experience creating polished, professional documents and presentations.
  • Proven experience in at least 1-2 of the following: strategic planning, organizational development, communications, recruitment, MEL/KPI design, or fundraising.
  • Direct experience in or strong familiarity with the NGO, philanthropy, and/or climate/environmental space.
  • Specific topical knowledge in climate finance, sustainable agriculture, multilateralism, climate justice, and/or climate politics is a significant plus.
  • A "low-ego, high-impact" mindset, motivated by supporting the mission from a behind-the-scenes role.
